A suspected stalker who had threatened Taylor Swift and her partner Travis Kelce on social media got arrested in Germany at the Eras Tour show. Taylor was performing in one of the three shows in Gelsenkirchen, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, when the arrest happened. Law enforcement officials have, however, not revealed his identity as of now.

NME reported that an unidentified American man was arrested while attempting to attend a concert. Although he had a ticket, police recognized his threats against the pop star and detained him. According to the Associated Press, the man will remain in custody until all the shows in the city are over.

Taylor Swift is yet to perform in two more German cities after Gelsenkirchen

After the arrest of the alleged 34-year-old stalker, law enforcement officers confirmed that there was no further danger or threat to either Taylor Swift or other concertgoers. Assistant District Attorney Harriet Jiranek spoke about the suspect, and said,

"[His] continued conduct in showing up to this location despite numerous directives to leave shows a clear risk that the defendant will not abide by court orders to return to court."

The 60,000 or more attendees of the Wednesday night event Taylor were apparently alerted by the organizers to the potential stalker due to his online activities.

Before the shows began, Gelsenkirchen temporarily renamed itself as "Swiftkirchen" to honor the pop singer. Taylor is yet to perform in Hamburg and Munich. Taylor's partner Travis was also an attendee at the Wednesday concert. Before the Wednesday performance, Kelce was also present at the Amsterdam concert.

Talking about obsessive fans, this wasn't the first time that the pop singer had such an experience. Earlier this year, it was reported that cops arrested an individual for the third time in five days, outside Taylor Swift's New York City residence.

The man then arrested was identified as 33-year-old David Crowe. According to a complaint against him, as reported by NME, Crowe was asked to stay away from the building about 10 times. He further was seen around the area about 30 times in the previous two months.

Taylor Swift is expected to wrap up the European leg of the Eras Tour in August 2024, after performing five shows in London. She is set to perform in the US and Canada which will also mark the end of the tour. In the last phase, Swift will be covering five cities- Miami Gardens, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Toronto, and Vancouver.
