Kyle Gass, the other half of Grammy-winning duo Tenacious D, was recently bashed for his comment on Donald Trump, regarding the assassination attempt on him. The incident happened when the duo was performing in Sydney on Sunday, July 14.

After the tour got postponed, Kyle Gass reportedly took to Instagram, to apologize for his comment on Trump. The post was, however, deleted shortly after that, as reported by NME.

In the now-removed Instagram post, Kyle Gass wrote,

"The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologise to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused."

News outlets have tried reaching out to Kyle's team, however, no response has yet been received from their end. As of now, it is also unclear why Gass deleted the apology post from his feed.

Following the comment made by Gass, Senator Ralph Babet urged for the band's deportation. Jack Black, Gass's fellow bandmate, took to Instagram and claimed that he was "blindsided" by the comment made during the show.

Kyle Gass' comment on Donald Trump's alleged assassination attempt led to the cancelation of their tour

Tenacious D's Kyle Gass commented while being on stage during a show in Sydney, on Sunday. When asked by Black to make a birthday wish, Gass said,

"Don’t miss Trump next time."

The comment didn't land well with many people, amongst whom Senator Ralph Babet immediately asked for the deportation of the duo. The duo was further bashed online for the comment. Recently, Jack Black took to Instagram, where he claimed he would never condone violence or hate speech in any form. He continued by apologizing to everybody hurt by the comment.

In the Instagram post, Black further confirmed the cancelation of their tour and also mentioned that "all future creative plans are on hold." Not just general bashing and trolling on the internet, the comment led to what seemed like a domino effect.

Along with the tour cancelation, Kyle Gass also had to face getting dropped by his agent, after what happened on Sunday on stage. Billboard reported that about six shows of the duo in New Zealand and Australia got canceled. The list includes cities like Newcastle, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Wellington, and Auckland.

Tenacious D was to perform five shows in the US, in October 2024. The fate of those shows had become uncertain as well. Australia’s former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has also given his views on the matter. He told news.com.au,

"It makes me feel sick someone would joke about violence. Physically ill. People might think it’s a bit of ‘funny haha’ at a concert to run off at the mouth off about this stuff..."

Rudd continued,

"It’s about threats to physical life; it’s about the near assassination of a former and prospective President of the United States, depending on the votes of the American people..."

While Kyle Gass had deleted the apology post from his Instagram feed, he had posted a video of a helicopter ride a day back. The caption of the post read,

"Birthday helicopter ride around Sydney Harbour, hours before the storm."

Gass further put a wink emoji at the end of the caption. Fans are waiting to see the fate of the remaining shows of the duo.
