The tweet, which garnered significant attention, highlighted Rihanna's ensemble, featuring an array of shimmering jewels and intricate beadwork meticulously designed to reflect the vibrant spirit of the festival.

Rihanna at the 2024 Crop Over Festival

Rihanna's participation in the Crop Over Festival is more than just a fashion statement; it celebrates her roots and is a testament to her enduring connection with her homeland. In April 2024, the Barbadian singer, in a conversation with Interview, suggested that Barbados will always be her "home."

"Barbados will always be home. One hundred percent. I'm still a citizen after all these years," the Barbados native said.

This year's appearance at the Crop Over Festival marks Rihanna's first after 2019 and two pregnancies. In 2019, she opted for a hot pink mini dress covered by voluminous bubblegum-colored feathers. She finished her look with Bantu knots, pink heels, sparkling sunglasses, and striking green eye makeup accented with rhinestones. In addition, the highlight was her hand accessory—a big mango.

Rihanna's 2018 appearance at the Crop Over Festival was also a notable highlight, bearing similarities to her current festival look. She chose a bejeweled bikini with a turquoise wig and large, colorful feathers. The ensemble was further enhanced with sizable gems adorning her forehead and hair and was completed with white trainers.

Lauren Austin, the designer for RiRi's 2018 look, told Nylon at that time that she loved working with RiRi as she is not afraid to experiment and does not care what others say.

"I enjoy working with Rihanna because she constantly challenges the norm in the fashion world, pushes the boundaries, and is not afraid to break the rules. She does not care about what others think, and she does and wears what she wants. She is an amazing person — very easygoing, fun, and friendly," Austin said.

For now, it is not known who designed Rihanna's 2024 outfit for the Crop Over Festival. However, according to Cosmopolitan, Lauren Austin could possibly have designed the outfit as it had many similarities with the previous designs. Also, an initial investigation by the publication on her Instagram suggests that she likely did consult Austin.
