Lizzo's previous album came out in 2022

Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, teased a new album in her new Instagram post. It would be the singer's fifth studio album, following her 2022 album Special. The LP contained her hit song About Damn Time, released as the album's lead single.

The singer's news about her physical transformation and upcoming album came just after she announced a gap year on Instagram to protect her peace. In March 2024, she turned heads after cryptically posting "I QUIT" on her social media. This led many fans to fear that the singer was announcing her departure from the music industry.

However, she later clarified that she had no intention of stopping her music career, adding her message was targeted towards the wave of negativity that came her way.

"What I'm not going to quit is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting with people. Because I know I'm not alone. In no way shape or form am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice which seems to be louder than the positive," she said in a video uploaded on Instagram.

This came after the heap of body shaming comments she faced every day, in addition to her former dancers filing a lawsuit against her for sexual harassment and racial discrimination in August 2023. The three dancers claimed the allegations occurred during the singer's 2022 'Special Tour.'

Lizzo denied the allegations, and the lawsuit was put on hold in March 2024. There have been no updates regarding the case until now, and it is unclear when the lawsuit will proceed at the time of writing this article.
