Selena Gomez was recently interviewed by W magazine, following the success of Emilia Perez. The Wolves singer also appeared on the magazine's cover in its best performances issue, a picture of which was shared on X on Saturday, January 4. Uploaded by @DailyLoud, the tweet has since gone viral, receiving over 77K views.

Netizens have been reacting to Gomez's picture on the cover, in which she is sporting a pink bra and matching sheer tights with dark underwear and a leather belt. A black, oversized jacket is draped over her ensemble, with a fur coating around the neck.

One netizen referred to Wizards of Waverly Place as they reacted to the picture and wrote:

Some netizens complimented Gomez, both for her appearance on the cover as well as her performance in the Spanish musical.

Meanwhile, others seemed to joke about her posture in the cover, in which she sat too low on a sofa, with most of the back at its seating area.

Selena Gomez confessed to liking her blonde look in the interview

In the Jacques Audiard movie - released at the Cannes Festival on May 18 - Selena Gomez plays the character of Jessi Del Monte, the US-raised wife of Juan 'Manitaz' Del Monte. The trailer of the movie reveals that Gomez has played a blonde character in some parts as well.

When the Fetish singer was asked about her hair transformation in her W magazine interview, Gomez said:

"I loved the blonde—I actually really like blonde on myself. A lot of people don't. The wig was incredible. It took about 80 hours to do it so that it would match my hairline and for everything to be exact."

Elsewhere in the interview, Gomez was also asked about her hesitation about spaking Spanish before shooting for the film. She responded to the question, admitting that she had been nervous.

The Wolves singer, who released an EP in Spanish four years ago - Revelacion - added that she was more comfortable singing in Spanish than filming an entire movie in the language which she found to be "a little intimidating".

While Selena Gomez was raised in a Mexican household and learned Spanish early in life, Audiard - who was directing the movie - didn't speak the language. Speaking about the same in the interview, Selena said:

"It might seem kind of crazy to think, How is he doing a Spanish film? But most of Jacques's work is in other languages. I love how he appreciates language. Even though he doesn't understand it, he really listens to the melody of how people speak."

When the subject of Cannes was brought up, Selena spoke about the standing ovation Emilia Perez received at the festival, which she found to be "really sweet." Gomez added:

"None of us had actually seen the movie until Cannes. We were all kind of sinking into our seats, not really sure what was going to happen. The reception after was really beautiful. I was so happy for Karla and for Jacques. It felt like we were seen and deeply appreciated."

Following the movie's premiere, Selena Gomez and her co-star, Zoe Saldana both shared the Best Actress Award at Cannes. Speaking about the experience in the interview, the Souvenir singer said:

"I actually was in New York, unfortunately, but Zoe called me on FaceTime and told me. She was with her family and they were crying, and then I started crying. It was beautiful for all of us to get acknowledged."

Emilia Perez was released on Netflix on November 13, 2024.
