"That’s my twin and nothing else"— Young Thug seemingly addresses Leena Syed jail call controversy 

Rapper Young Thug has reportedly responded to the controversy surrounding a resurfaced video of himself on a call with model Leena Syed from 2022. The 14-minute-plus video has gone viral on the internet this week.

On December 23, 2024, Young Thug shared a series of cryptic tweets on X, seemingly addressing the viral video. In the first of his series of tweets, Thug wrote:

“Them n*ggas don showed they hands, them n*ggas ain’t in… #saytwin."

In a subsequent tweet, he wrote:

“Man me and twin was talking bout some whole other serious sh*t, I don’t know y she spoke on loving other people or anything else cause ain giving no f*ck bout no h*es or n*ggas I’m the capital P lol that’s my twin and nothing else. Never have never will lol."

His final tweet read:

“I can have that lil sh*t right now if I wanted it, but she been pushing the p harder then ni**as lol that’s the twin…I got who I want.”

The clip reportedly dates back to 2022 when Instagram model Leena Syed visited Thug at the Cobb County Corrections facility. During their alleged jail call, the model was seen crying while telling the rapper, “I only want you.” The video was allegedly leaked by Law & Crime.

For those uninformed, Young Thug was released from jail on October 31, 2024, after pleading guilty to gun, drug, and gang charges. The rapper spent over 900 days in jail. His release came after he reached a plea with Judge Paige Reese Whitaker and was sentenced to time served and 15 years of probation.

An alleged private video of rapper Young Thug on a call with Instagram model Leena Syed in jail has surfaced on the internet. In the video, reportedly released by Law & Crime, Thug and Syed are seen having an intimate conversation, sparking questions about their alleged relationship.

In the clip, Syed appears to explain a miscommunication and expresses her longing for Young Thug to be out of jail. She said:

“I obviously want you to be out of jail and out here with me, do you get what I mean?”

For context, Leena Syed is an American-Afghan model born in New York in 1992. Syed previously worked as a model for the online clothing brand CaviarBlaque.

Syed was reportedly married to boxer Devin Haney in 2023. She recently took to Instagram to share images of her baby bump with her followers, announcing her pregnancy. She captioned the images "bump dump."

Shortly after her alleged video with Young Thug went viral online, Leena Syed took to her Instagram story on December 23 to confirm that the video was taken before she met her "bd," seemingly referring to Haney.

''That video was before I met my bd... I would never talk to Thug or any other man," Syed wrote.

Meanwhile, Young Thug, a.k.a. Jeffrey Williams, has been in a relationship with R&B singer Mariah The Scientist. The couple reportedly began dating in November 2021 and has been together ever since. Williams was arrested on RICO charges in May 2022. Three months later, in August 2022, The Scientist appeared to make their relationship official.

In an interview on Way Up With Angela Yee, Mariah The Scientist claimed Young Thug was "the one" for her and said:

"It’s almost like jail solidified our relationship. I’m willing to wait it out because I feel like he’s the one. If I didn’t really see that in him, I probably wouldn’t."

The recently viral video of Thug with model Leena Syed has cast doubts on his relationship with Mariah The Scientist. However, both Syed and Thug have denied any current romantic involvement with each other.
