The 52-year-old entertainer wasn’t present at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Paralympics ceremony which took place on August 28, 2024, but he showed his support by uploading a hype video for the games. He could be heard saying:
"The saying with these Games is spirit and motion. I can get down with that. Because speed is speed, strength is strength and game is game, baby. Not to mention the harmony that comes with the world gathering to go for gold and fight for everything you have worked for, in that one moment the competition gives you!"
The opening ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games was coordinated like the previously held Olympic Games, with 4,400 athletes from 168 delegations participating in the Parade of Nations before the lighting of the cauldron. The cauldron which was attached to a hot-air balloon took off after being lit by five French Paralympians.
The Paralympics competition commenced on August 29, 2024, with the wheelchair rugby games, track cycling, taekwondo, and swimming competitions amongst others. The August 30 events include the blind football competition held at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
The 2024 Paralympics will be held from August 28 to September 8, 2024. Throughout the 11-day event, 4,400 athletes are expected to compete in a total of 549 events in 22 sports. Viewers can stream the event live in Peacock.
