Billie Eilish has achieved a remarkable feet recently, as she replaced The Weeknd as the most streamed artist in the world, on the music streaming platform Spotify.

The Grammy winner took to her Instagram and expressed her love and affection for her fans after the streaming platform announced the most streamed artist list on August 19. In the post she said,

"Number 1 in the world on spotify I really can't even believe this. I love you all so much this is the craziest thing ever."

The Weekend took to X (formerly Twitter) last week to show his support for Billy and to root for her, when she was a little short of hitting 1 million listeners and thus, topping Spotify's list.

Eilish passed the 100 million monthly listeners in June and became the third and youngest artist to do so, after The Weeknd and Taylor Swift.

Billie Eilish's overall performance on Spotify

Billie Eilish, on August 19, became the most streamed artist on Spotify. The singer has eight songs in the Billions Club, which comprises songs that have surpassed one billion streams. These songs include Lovely, Bad Guy, When the Party's Over, Everything I Wanted, Ocean Eyes, Happier Than Ever, Idontwannabeyouanymore and Bury a Friend.

Spotify's global head of music, Jeremy Erlich, while speaking to Billboard in June 2024, talked about Billie Eilish and journey on the streaming platform. He said,

"Spotify has been a part of Billie's story from the start. Ever since 'Ocean Eyes', she has continously grown her fan base around the world. What she and (brother-collaborator) Finneas have achieved since 2016 is quite remarkable...and all this by age of 22."

Eilish dropped her 10-track hit third album, Hit Me Hard and Soft in April which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Billie's albums When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and Happier Than Ever, topped Billboard charts for three weeks.

Brought up in L.A, the singer comes from a media-background, with both her parents working in the entertainment industry. Growing up, she produced music in her bedroom at home with her older brother Finneas O'Connell. She rose to fame at just 14 years with her song Ocean Eyes.

Billie Eilish keeps growing as an artist, as she has already won two Grammys this year and a Golden Globe nomination for her song for the 2023 movie Barbie, What was I made for. She, along with her brother, bagged the Academy Award for Best Original Song, for the track.

Her music has hints of Alternative Rock, Pop Rock, Soft Rock and Electronic Rock and she tries not to stick to strict music categories. Her music is mainly influenced by popular artists such as The Beatles, Green Day, Lana Del Ray, Aurora, Tyler The Creator and others.
