Music group Day26’s Brian Andrews recently claimed in a livestream that he was in disbelief of the Sean “Diddy” Combs-created band not making it to the ‘Top 5 R&B groups of all time’ lists. This comes in the midst of the Bad Boy Records’ boss coming under investigation for sex trafficking and abuse.

Celebrity news outlet The Art of Dialogue took to its X page on August 25 to share a snippet of Brian Andrews sharing his opinion on Day26. The singer said in the live stream:

“All this talk about top 5 R&B this, this and that, I find it highly f**king disrespectful, I’m just going to say it… that mothe***kers don’t bring up n***as’ names and that’s f**ked up. That’s alright, though.”

At the time of writing this article, the tweet had gone viral and had amassed over 455,000 views, with many getting into a debate over Day26’s success.

Netizens have been seemingly trolling Andrews for believing the group must make it to the lists that celebrate the finest musicians. Many opined that the band did not earn the spot on the list. One netizen said:

A few other reactions read:

“As much as I fux with Day 26 and their 3 albums, I don’t think anyone can name an R&B group formed after 2005 that could be considered one of the Top 5 R&B Groups of All Time,” an X user said.
“He on drugs??? They not even top 100,” another platform user commented.
“Yall had one song LOL,” a netizen stated.

For those uninitiated, the band debuted in February 2008 with its single, Got Me Going. The group released a self-titled debut album the following month. Other reactions to Andrews’ claims read:

“Because they’re not. They were good but top five ever is insane…,” a platform user commented.
“Can’t name one song by them. I’m in my 30s,” another internet user said.
“They were gone on Day 27th tho careers didn’t even last that long,” another netizen said.
“Really? Hes joking right,” an X user said.

Sean “Diddy” Combs created Day26 as a part of MTV’s Making the Band television show

Formed in the fourth season of MTV’s Making the Band, Day26 includes Willie Taylor, Mike McCluney, Qwanell Mosley, Robert Cutty, and Brian Andrews. The band’s name is in reference to August 26, 2007, the date the reality show turned the band members into a music group.

The band has released four albums, including Day26, Forever in a Day, A New Day, and The Return. In August 2024, they released a new album titled Day Ones to celebrate their 17th anniversary.

Before the release of their latest album, the band had disbanded in 2012. Speaking about the same, Brian Andrews said in an interview with VIBE in 2012:

“I say this all the time: Day26, I don’t believe that it’s over. I would definitely be up for coming back together and eventually doing music together…. I definitely wouldn’t count out more Day26 albums.”

The band was certainly popular among R&B listeners at one point, as its debut album bagged the first spot on the Billboard charts. In 2009, the members also managed to win Best Group at the BET Awards.
