“This is one of the many great things Bruce has said to me”- Jack Antonoff reveals the words by Springsteen as he wins the Variety Hitmakers’ Producer of the Decade
When Jack Antonoff was named the Variety Hitmakers’ Producer of the Decade, he mentioned the words spoken to him by his idol, Bruce Springsteen, and said:
“This is one of the many great things Bruce has said to me. ‘If you spend your life making records and touring, that’s more than enough.’ He was responding to me reflecting on this culture where everyone has a million side hustles and fashion lines. I needed someone in his shoes to say, ‘That’s all you need.’”
Jack Antonoff started his career in 2002, when he and his friend, Scott Irby-Ranniar, formed a band, Steel Train, and released many albums like Aim and Ignite and Some Nights. However, his career rose to success when he worked with Taylor Swift for the first time in 2013 on the song Sweeter than Fiction.
The duo then collaborated multiple times on Swift’s albums, including Reputation, Lover, and even Folklore. Furthermore, Jack Antonoff was also appreciated for his work with Sabrina Carpenter, for the song, Please Please Please. Jack spoke about the same during his Variety interview and said:
“There’s a seamless, effortless vacillation between the most dark and depressing topics and the absolute silliest and funniest. Sabrina does a brilliant job of that: I mean, are these songs about being alone and finding no love and no one to relate to, or are they also about roasting a bunch of men in their 20s? Choose your own ending.”
Antonoff has been credited with many hit songs throughout his career, as the producer has won eleven Grammy Awards to date, including several other prestigious accolades. Jack has gained popularity for his hit music production, winning awards such as the Satellite Awards, NME Awards, and Ivor Novello Awards.
Antonoff married American actress/model Margaret Qualley in 2023.
