"He sacrificed for all of us" — 50 Cent shared the news of his grandfather's death via an Instagram post

Longtime fans of 50 Cent would know that the rapper's grandfather, Curtis Jackson Sr., was one of the major influences in 50 Cent's personal and professional life. A week ago, he shared the news of his grandfather's death via an Instagram post. It contained several photos of the two with an anecdote from the time when he was hospitalized.

"My old man is tuff act to follow, he sacrificed for all of us," wrote 50 Cent in the caption.

He continued,

"He made me me smile every time I saw him. The last time he went to the hospital he was dehydrated so the nurse couldn't find a vein. I came in, I said pop you alright? He said no, she stick me again and I'm a start shooting. LOL I almost fell out! South side we out side WTF!"

While we don't know for sure how old Curtis Jackson Sr. was when he died, we can guess his age from a Facebook post shared by the rapper in November 2017. The post was a birthday wish for his grandfather on his 85th birthday, and we can make an approximation that he was 91 or 92 at the time of his demise.

50 Cent opened up about the contribution of his grandfather in a 2009 interview with The Guardian. He commented on a time when nine people used to depend on his grandfather's salary when he went to live with his grandparents.

"After my mom died, I went to live with my grandparents," he shared. "There were nine of us living on my grandfather's salary, and you've got to pay the bills, so there ain't much there for you."

On July 31, he also tweeted a video of a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, for which he brought $3.5 million in cash for the photo shoot.

In the caption, the rapper talked about how "none of sh*t really matters" because we can't take our material possessions with us after we die.
