On Monday, January 13, 2025, the rapper Doja Cat tweeted that she had partnered with the American Red Cross to support the Los Angeles fire victims. The rapper further announced the launch of a merchandise line created in collaboration with Californian-based artist PINI.
The limited-edition items are now on sale, and 100% of the revenue will be donated to the American Red Cross to assist those affected by the wildfires.
"Please help me and @RedCross support my beautiful state of California. I teamed up with CA based artist PINI and designed a small collection of hoodies and tees on sale now - 100% of proceeds go to American Red Cross to support the people of California affected by the wildfires. The merchandise collection features seven articles. Two hoodies, available in light blue and black, showcase sketches of Doja Cat riding the outline of California like a surfboard and embracing it.
Additionally, four T-shirts are offered in black and white color options featuring the same sketches. The collection also includes a white poster that highlights the collaboration between Doja Cat and PINI. Prices for the items range from $25 to $60.
The description posted by the American Red Cross on the merchandise website emphasizes that the items will be available until January 30, 2025, and all proceeds will be used to support those impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires.
"This collection is raising crucial funds at this urgent time. Your donation enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from these disasters. 100% of the total creator profits raised January 9 to January 30 will support the American Red Cross and those impacted by California Wildfires in 2025," the statement read.
According to AP News, the LA wildfire has resulted in 24 deaths and has forced the evacuation of almost 150,000 people. Additionally, more than 12,000 structures have been destroyed.
While the cause of the wildfire remains unknown, the current estimates place the damage and economic losses between $250 billion and $275 billion.
