Justin Timberlake arrested for DWI in the Hamptons
Surveillance footage by hamptons.com captured the Selfish singer, 43, driving slowly on a deserted street moments before his arrest in the early hours of Tuesday, June 18. The singer-songwriter was arrested and charged with two traffic violations and one count of driving while intoxicated, as per Page Six.
The incident unfolded around 12:37 am local time on Tuesday when policemen pulled Timberlake over while he was driving in Sag Harbor. When an official confronted him, they observed that Timberlake had "bloodshot and glassy" eyes and that his breath smelled of alcohol, as per the NY Post.
While being processed at Sag Harbor Police Headquarters, it was alleged that Timberlake declined to take a chemical test that would have established his blood-alcohol content. He was subsequently placed under arrest and held overnight before his arraignment. Court records obtained by the publication indicate that Timberlake told authorities he had consumed "one martini."
The arresting officer documented further signs of alleged intoxication, noting Timberlake's slowed speech, his being unsteady, and his poor performance on standardized field sobriety tests.
Justin Timberlake's arrest coincides with a break in his The Forget Tomorrow World Tour, which commenced following the release of his latest album, Everything I Thought It Was. His upcoming shows are scheduled to take place in Chicago on June 21 and 22.
Despite the legal proceedings, Justin Timberlake was released without bail, with his next court appearance scheduled for July 26 in Suffolk County. It is expected to be conducted virtually. This date coincides with his scheduled performance in Krakow, Poland.
