Recently, UK fans heckled singer and rapper Megan Thee Stallion with "Free Tory Lanez" chants. This happened after her London show on July 17, Wednesday at the O2 Arena.

This was in reference to the fact that Megan’s then-boyfriend, singer-rapper Tory Lanez, who shot her in July 2020, is currently serving a ten-year jail sentence without the possibility of release.

Megan faced the fans following the last show of her Hot Girl Summer Tour in Europe at the O2 Arena. Now, once this news and the video of the UK fans heckling her went viral, her online fans rushed to support her. They took to Instagram to express their opinion on the entire incident.

They mostly backed up the singer and made fun of the people harassing her. Some even pointed out Meg’s expression and how she could be seen covering her mouth and nose in the viral videos.

After the final show of the European leg of her Hot Girl Summer Tour at the O2 Arena on Wednesday, July 17, Megan faced the UK fans. Once they saw the rapper, they started heckling her and chanting ‘Free Tory Lanez’.

They were referring to the incident that happened on August 20, 2020. On the day, Megan Thee Stallion confessed that Tory Lanez was the shooter who shot her in the foot after a pool party at Kylie Jenner's house on July 12, 2020.

A judge gave Lanez a ten-year prison term in 2023 for the shooting. However, even though he was arrested for possessing a hidden weapon in a car, Lanez was not detained for allegedly shooting Megan.

Sources like Vulture stated that it was reported that the Los Angeles Police Department was having trouble locating witnesses to assist with their investigation.

Later, in an interview that was published on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, for Women's Health, Meg commented on the "dark times" that followed the Lanez 2020 shooting, which had a negative impact on her mental health. She said-

“A lot of people didn’t treat me like I was human for a long time. I feel like everybody was always used to me being the fun and happy party girl.... As a Black woman... I also feel like people expect me to take the punches, take the beating, take the lashings and handle it with grace. But I’m human.”

The UK was a part of Megan Thee Stallion’s Hot Girl Summer Tour

Now, recently, she faced harassment and 'Free Tory Lanez' chants in the UK after her performance at the O2 Arena.

Meanwhile, beginning on May 14 in the US, the tour visited 32 cities, including places like Europe and the UK like Birmingham, Manchester, Amsterdam, and Paris. For the London audience, the appearance of Yuki Chiba, a Japanese rapper and singer, proved to be an unexpected high point.

Chiba joined Megan on stage during her performance to perform Mamushi, the viral hit from Megan's self-released first album MEGAN.

Furthermore, Megan teased the audience before Yuki Chiba appeared by saying,

"We’ve got a real special treat for London tonight.”

This prompted thunderous applause when Chiba entered the stage. The song's catchy lyric, "Okane kasegu watashi wa sutaa," was also heartily sung by the audience.

When the album was released, Megan shared a dance video on her official account, which led to the viral success of the collaboration tune on TikTok. The song features Japanese lyrics delivered by both Megan and Chiba.

In the meantime, once the fans’ reaction from the UK went viral online, Meg’s internet fans took to Instagram to defend the rapper and react to the whole thing.

Following the incident, Megan Thee Stallion didn’t say anything about the entire event.
