"There's no one bigger than Kendrick Lamar right now" — JasonMartin opens up on Not Like Us music video shoot in Compton

After the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, the hip-hop community seems quite excited about Lamar's Not Like Us music video. The video was shot in Compton, which is also Lamar's home city.

The shooting happened smoothly, as reported by TMZ, and JasonMartin, the 39-year-old rapper-songwriter, witnessed the entire process. Martin told TMZ,

"It's hands-down, he's the king of hip-hop. Period. There's no one bigger than Kendrick Lamar right now, there's nobody bigger than him."

He further explained what the music video being shot in Compton meant for Lamar and other surrounding artists. The West Coast musician additionally revealed that Bobbi Althoff also made a surprise visit to Compton while the team was present there for the music video shooting.


JasonMartin shared insights into Kendrick Lamar's music video shoot in Compton

While fans have been swarming the area in Compton to get some visual of the making of the Not Like Us music video, JasonMartin has given insights about the shoot in a conversation with TMZ. He stated that the place had raised both him and Lamar.

"We're from over there, Central and Rosecrans, Central and El Segundo. So to be out there with all our people, with all our people that watched us grow up. For him to get the love and admiration that he deserves for what he's doing, it was almost biblical."

The rapper, formerly known by his stage name Problem, revealed that he felt extremely safe in his community, unlike ever before. He further explained that people who weren't from Compton wouldn't understand the safety concerns he referred to in the conversation. According to him, every nook and corner of the place experienced some sort of mischief.

The rapper continued,

"And then to go to the Compton courthouse and to be at the top with every representation of street culture there at one time. And to never feel any tension is a new reality for us. We've been talking about it every day."

He further spoke about Kendrick and said,

"I can't say enough about Kendrick, man, I pray that it keeps going on."

JasonMartin added that Kendrick Lamar's gesture of involving so many people in the process is something that "a king would do." He further revealed that Althoff was possibly in Compton a day before. He added everyone should come to the city and experience it.

The West Coast musician further spoke about Bobbi and said that she must have enjoyed it too, and felt at home in Compton. He continued:

"We the new Hollywood, come check it out. You good."

Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us has become quite popular among fans and they eagerly waiting for the music video.
