A representative from Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal team reportedly responded to claims made by former Bad Boy Entertainment artist, Shyne (a.k.a. Moses Michael Levi Barrow). Citing a statement sent by Combs' legal counsel, All Hip Hop on Thursday, November 14, 2024, wrote:

"Mr. Combs categorically denies Mr. Barrow’s allegations, including any suggestion that he orchestrated Mr. Barrow to ‘take the fall’ or ‘sacrificed’ him by directing witnesses to testify against him. These claims are unequivocally false."

The comment follows Barrow's recent interviews, ahead of the release of his Hulu documentary The Honorable Shyne, where he claimed she was made the scapegoat in the 1999 Club New York shooting.

For the unversed, in 1999, Combs and an entourage that included Shyne got into an altercation with rival individuals. It ended in a shooting that left three bystanders injured. Following a trial, Diddy was acquitted of all charges, but Shyne was found guilty and sentenced to ten years.

Shyne and Diddy performed together at the 2022 BET Awards, where the latter received a lifetime achievement award

Combs' statement, as per the representative, to All Hip Hop continued:

"Mr. Combs was acquitted of all charges related to the 1999 Club New York incident and has consistently maintained his innocence. He cannot accept or condone any characterization of his actions as ‘demonic’ or malicious."

The statement is referring to Shyne's appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show (earlier in the day), where he confessed that he once thought Diddy "was the Devil" but added he has since moved on from the incident.

The statement shared with All Hip Hop emphasized that Combs has always supported the rapper-turned-politician's personal and professional pursuits, even wishing the latter success.

Barrow's stance against Diddy comes as a surprise, as over the years he has maintained a decent relationship with the Bad Boy Entertainment founder. This included his 2022 BET Awards performance with Combs, where the latter was given a lifetime achievement award.

At the time, in a conversation with Vibe Magazine ahead of the performance, Shyne stated that he made an "exception" to attend the event for Diddy. The pair shared the stage again in 2023 at a charity concert in London, where they sang Bonnie & Shyne and Bad Boyz.

While promoting his upcoming documentary, Shyne stopped by the Tamron Hall Show on Wednesday, where he stated Diddy was the "person that destroyed (his) life." He revealed that he didn't want to do the 2022 BET Awards performance.

"I didn’t want to do it, but he said, ‘Listen, this is about Belize. Imagine this platform,'" he told Hall.

Barrow remained in prison till 2009, serving almost nine years, before he was released. He was immediately deported to Belize, where he rebuilt his career in politics. He is currently the leader of the opposition at the Belize House of Representatives.

The Honorable Shyne will be available to stream beginning November 18.

Combs was arrested in September on charges of racketeering, s*x trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Since then, several people have sued him for alleged s*xual abuse and violence. He is currently being held without bail at a detention center in Brooklyn. Diddy's trial is scheduled to start next May.
