DJ Vlad recently commented on rapper Lil Durk's arrest on murder-for-hire charges in Florida on October 24. The 32-year-old rapper is currently detained at Broward County Jail without bond.

Durk's arrest came just hours after five other affiliates of his Only The Family (OFT) collective were arrested for "murder-for-hire and murder-for-hire conspiracy," for the 2022 murder of Saviay’a Robinson, rapper Quando Rondo's cousin.

Vlad took to X to dub Lil Durk "stupid" for allegedly putting five guys on a plane to kill someone. He added that the suspects killed the wrong person, as Quando Rondo was allegedly the actual target in the 2022 attack.

"In multiple interviews, I've said that nobody would get on a plane to kill you. I said this because there would be so much evidence that they're guaranteeing prison. Well, today, I was proven wrong," Vlad wrote.

He further continued:

"Lil Durk was actually stupid enough to send 5 guys on a plane to kill Quando Rondo. They ended up killing the wrong person. And now, all 6 of them are facing life in prison or even the death penalty."

According to XXL Magazine, the indictment filed in LA claimed that flight and cab fares for the five OTF members were paid using the company card. It also alleged that an unnamed OTF member promised "lucrative music opportunities" in exchange for the murder of Quando Rondo.

In August 2022, Quando Rondo and his cousin Saviay’a Robinson were ambushed by gunmen, when they were in a car in an LA neighborhood. While Rondo escaped, Robinson was reportedly killed in the altercation.

It is presumed that Rondo was targeted due to his alleged involvement in the death of King Von, Lil Durk's protege. Von was killed in a shooting in Atlanta in 2020 by perpetrators who were allegedly affiliated with Rondo.

Lil Durk had dissed Vlad in a 2022 track

Lil Durk, aka Durk Banks, took shots at DJ Vlad in his 2022 song Golden Child, from his album 7220. In the track, the rapper seemingly cut ties with the journalist, with the line:

"I don't speak tongues, period, I don't f**k with Vlad."

At the time, DJ Vlad claimed he was unsure why the rapper decided to diss him, given that the two had no bad blood. However, DJ Akademiks cleared this up for Vlad during a June 2023 interview with him.

Akademiks claimed Durk was upset because Vlad unwittingly revealed the birth and the gender of the rapper's unborn child with partner India, in a 2018 interview.

“[Lil Durk] said the reason is: ‘I did an interview with Vlad and there was a part of the interview I mentioned the upcoming birth of my child.' And that was with India and he apparently had asked you to take it out. And you said, ‘I got you, I’ll take it out.’ Interview comes out and that part wasn’t taken out. A lot of people could take that really sensitive too,” DJ Akademiks stated.

Vlad apologized to Lil Durk and India for his mistake after Akademiks told him the supposed reason. He also added that the interview was immediately taken down once he realized the segment was not removed as requested, and he apologized to Durk's PR team at the time.

“I am still the president of the company and I want to personally apologize to Durk and India. I know when it comes to children this is a very important thing and it’s a permanent thing. Announcing the birth or the gender of your child is very important and by us doing that took away from the grandeur of the whole thing so I’m sorry. I’m very sorry that this happened,” Vlad added.

Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks, is a Chicago-based rapper who released his first studio album in 2015. His ninth studio album, Deep Thoughts, is slated for release in November 2024.
