Rapper Lil Baby has responded to streamer Kai Cenat who gave a rating of 6/10 to the former's latest album WHAM, released earlier this month. The rapper appeared for an interview with Complex for their cover story on January 15, 2025, where he was questioned about his opinion on Kai's reaction to the album.
The rapper said that he had seen a few clips of Kai's review and added,
"But people like Kai Cenat, I feel like they're younger. They won't really understand how I'm coming. You have to be a little older to really get it."
Lil Baby further stated that there is an age difference between him and personalities such as Kai Cenat. While the rapper is 30 years old, Kai Cenat is 23. Lil Baby added,
"If it was a music person, then I'd probably be more interested. But the streamers and people who do reviews, that's just their personal opinion. They know nothing about music for real."
Also known as Dominique Armani Jones, the My Dawg hitmaker said that he is more interested in listening to the opinion of a journalist or a music expert about his albums. Lil Baby continued by saying that he has seen many people openly claim that they did not like a song but still play it on different occasions. He addressed the same and stated:
"You're saying you don't like it and you're making a whole ordeal about it, but the song is playing in the background. So it's really more to go viral or to get a reaction. People would do anything to get a reaction."
Lil Baby's WHAM has started trending on different charts
WHAM was released on January 3, 2025, and has started reaching the top of various charts, including the Billboard 200.
A report by Hip Hop DX on Monday, January 13, stated that WHAM managed to surpass the other titles of artists such as Bad Bunny and Kendrick Lamar on the Billboard 200. As per another update by The Source magazine, the album has also grabbed the first position on the Top Album Sales chart with sales of almost 50,000 units.
While WHAM continues to create different records, Lil Baby has another album in the lineup, titled Dominique. Notably, he teased that Dominique is arriving next month through an Instagram post shared on January 12, 2025. The post also celebrated WHAM reaching the top spot on the Billboard chart and was captioned:
"See yall Again in a couple weeks "Dominique" The Album 2-?-25."
Apart from this, Lil Baby has hinted towards the possibility of a collaborative project with Young Thug and Future. Lil Baby told Complex on January 15, 2025, that he and Young Thug have "tons of songs", adding that he and Future were planning to release a project and Thug decided to join. He referred to Thug by saying:
"The whole time while he's locked up, I'm talking to him and trying to talk about the trial. He's like, 'You need to get with Pluto and drop the tape with Pluto.' I'm trying to talk about the trial. He ain't even tripping. He's like, 'Bro, go to Miami. You need to lock in with Pluto, y'all need to drop an album."
It will be interesting to see if his upcoming album has tracks by Young Thug and Future.
