On August 27, a video of Philadelphia rapper YBC Dul’s shooting surfaced online, four days after he was killed in broad daylight. The surveillance footage, released by Philadelphia police, showed a white SUV stopping behind a bus at a traffic signal followed by another similar-looking car, a white Hyundai Santa Fe stopping on its left side.

Soon, the windows of the second car rolled down and opened fire multiple shots at the passenger and back seats of the first car, before fleeing the scene. Subsequently, the victim’s car tried to chase it down. The 37-second clip has now garnered severe traction online. While it doesn’t exactly show YBC Dul in person, speculations have it that it is CCTV footage of his murder.
In the wake of the now-viral clip, the internet has varied reactions with many believing that the rapper was set up. For instance, X user @defi_dino commented on Kollege Kidd’s post on the same by claiming that the shooters put some kind of tracking device inside the victim’s car.
“They put a GPS on his car,” the user wrote.
Several others joined the conversation and shared similar reactions on the platform.
“He def got set up how they kno where he was nd his car,” a person wrote.
“That sh*t was most definitely a setup,” one person wrote.
“Set up for sure they made it cool to backdoor ur people,” another person wrote.
Meanwhile, others speculated that someone close to YBC Dul set him up, as they exactly knew where he was seated inside the car.
“Whoever didn’t get hit in the car set him up,” a netizen wrote.
“He definitely got setup… how they know he was in the back with tinted windows,” another netizen wrote.
“Was he in the back seat or sum cuz if so that’s definitely a set up,” one individual wrote.
“They was on him way before that, they knew where he was sitting in the car” an individual wrote.
YBC Dul's father also took to his son's social media and made similar claims, alleging that his son was "targeted in some set up plot," and pledged to bring the matter to justice.
Exploring the details surrounding YBC Dul’s murder
On Friday, August 23, YBC Dul, whose real name was Abdul Vicks, was shot and killed around 3:30 pm in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia. The 25-year-old had multiple injuries to his hand and chest and was declared dead at Einstein Medical Center.
The exact motive for the shooting is unknown, but law enforcement suspects it was gang-related. The suspects are unidentified, no arrests have been made, but at least two people are believed to be involved. Police have found and are investigating a burned car, which they suspect might be connected to the shooters.
For those unaware, YBC Dul was affiliated with the Philly-based gang Young Bag Chasers (YBC). In the past, he made headlines after he dug up the grave of his rival, Opps K3, and later threatened the latter’s mother with physical assault. Notably, K3 was a member of an opponent gang and was reportedly killed by a YBC gang member.
Also known by the moniker Mr. Disrespectful, YBC Dul sat for an interview with YouTuber Brandon Buckingham earlier this year, where he flaunted his gun collection, adding he kept many of them in his car at all times. In a chilling moment from the same interview, YBC Dul also predicted that he was likely to get gunned down in the streets of Philadelphia.
