English actor Lily Allen loves animals but what she said recently regarding her pet has changed a lot of opinions about her. In the August 22 episode of BBC’s Miss Me? Podcast, the actress said that she had to send her pet back to its animal shelter as it had eaten her children’s passports. As a result of this mishap, her kids were unable to meet their father, the actress’s ex-husband Sam Cooper, for a long time.

“We actually did adopt a dog already, but then it ate my passport and so I took her back to the home. She ate all three of our passports and they had our visas in. And I cannot tell you how much money it cost me to get everything replaced, because it was in Covid and so it was just an absolute logistical nightmare,” Lily Allen said.

Although the actress did not disclose the pet’s name, Daily Mail reported that it was Mary, whom she and her present husband David Harbour adopted from New York’s Animal Haven in 2021. Soon after the podcast took rounds on the Internet, netizens started reacting to it.

“You need to put effort into training a dog or pay someone to do that for you if you’re not going to bother. They’re not just toys you can pick up at your disposal,” a Reddit user reacted.

“Don't adopt if you cannot handle them. Be it a Child or an Animal,” another user reacted.
“It‘s a da** pet. They sometimes destroy things or make messes. They are animals and don‘t know that they are inconveniencing you. What an unpleasant person”, a user reacted.

Netizens criticized Lily Allen for not being mindful about keeping important entities in their right places.

“If your new puppy does something to "ruin your life" ms. drama queen, it's on you. Where the f*** was she keeping the passports, the dog's water bowl?” reacted one user.
“Admitting that you had to rehome a puppy because it ate paper when you’ve already raised two humans past infancy, is a massive tell,” another person commented.
“It’s almost like she should have put the passports somewhere safe. A dog ruining your life because it ate passports? Grow up. They’re replaceable. Lily Allen remains out of touch with reality,” a netizen reacted.

Lily Allen’s pet Mary had an Instagram page

According to the Independent, the actress’s pet, Mary, had an Instagram page that stopped being updated at some point. Due to a recent incident, the actress’s children couldn’t visit their father in England, though she mentioned that this was not the reason for stopping the posts.

Mary was also misbehaving. The Instagram page showed Mary's time with the family, including traveling with David on a subway train and playing with a pink hat.

“Passports weren’t the only thing she ate, she was a very badly behaved dog and I really tried very hard with her, but it just didn’t work out and the passports were the straw that broke the camel’s back so to speak,” Lily Allen said.

Reportedly, the actress is planning to get another pet. Her kids Ethel and Marnie have decided to call it Jude Bellingham. The new member of their family will be a Chihuahua mix.
