Lil Durk was recently accused of being involved in the murder attempt of Quando Rondo in 2022, leading to his arrest on Friday, October 25. Meanwhile, music manager Wack100 appeared for an interview with DJ Vlad on October 28, addressing the ongoing legal issue.
Vlad started by saying that he spoke to Quando in Savannah about the murder attempt, where the latter's cousin Lul Pab was shot dead. Vlad said that Quando described it as one of the worst things he had gone through, adding that Quando did not speak anything about King Von's murder in 2020, which resulted in his dispute with Durk.
Wack100 then referred to Lil Durk's arrest by saying that there are a few things that would leave an impact on the rapper's life, including that his hip-hop group OTF would be identified as a criminal empire considering that they used to "commit heinous criminal acts." Wack 100 added:
"People may look out for him but now he can't look out for the other people. Attorney fees and all of that. And the minute they're left there for dead and they're saying we got 50-60 years of life unless you cooperate, we'll give you 10, 15, 20, he cannot supply the funding that it takes to help protect and secure these individuals."
Wack also said that the authorities are going to freeze everything that Lil Durk has earned over the years. Vlad mentioned that Durk is being held without a bond and won't get one since he tried to escape from the authorities by trying to leave for Italy before being arrested. While Vlad mentioned that Durk's case would lead to the death penalty, Wack responded:
"Yeah they very seldom use that in the phase but it's there."
Vlad then asked Wack about the situations that could lead to the death penalty and the latter replied:
"If you kill a government official, espionage like stuff like that, some drug lords depending on what it is."
Lil Durk reportedly planned Quando Rondo's murder after King Von died in 2020
Lil Durk has been accused of murder-for-hire after his arrest last week. Notably, the problems emerged out of King Von's death in 2020, when he was reportedly shot dead by an associate of Quando Rondo, as per a press release from the US Attorney's Office.
Von was a member of the rap collective Only The Family (OTF), which was established by Durk. The rapper allegedly planned Rondo's murder after the incident and put a bounty on his life, which led to the shooting case in 2022 at a gasoline station near the Beverly Center mall.
Five people, who were also a part of the OTF, were arrested by the authorities on October 24, 2024, for their alleged links to the shooting incident. The group used vehicles to stalk Rondo throughout the day and they arrived in California along with Durk, who traveled separately in a private plane.
The arrested group members included Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston. They were charged with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, committing murder-for-hire involving a death, and use of a machine gun in a violent crime leading to death.
Lil Durk was taken into custody after he attempted to leave Miami on a private plane. Hip Hop DX reported on October 27 that Durk had "booked as a passenger" on at least two other flights that were traveling to Dubai and Switzerland but did not board any one of them. The same was confirmed by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Certain officials shared their responses after the arrest, including US Attorney Martin Estrada, who stated that the crime happened at a "busy intersection" which could have led to a worse situation. Estrada added:
"Violent gun crime of this sort is devastating to our community and we will have zero-tolerance for those who perpetrate such callous acts of violence."
Lil Durk was taken to the Broward County Jail after his arrest where he remains. Further updates on the case are currently awaited.
