MackWop, a DJ for Top Dawg Entertainment or TDE, spoke up on the cancelation of ScHoolboy Q and SiR's performances in Toronto. The cancelation of the shows also led to heavy criticism from the public on social media.
The performances were scheduled at History, a venue co-owned by Drake and Live Nation. He spoke about it on the YouTube show The Apollo.
Mack started by saying:
"That n*gga SiR got his show canceled in Toronto, no cap. SiR got his show canceled at the same f*cking venue that we was gonna perform at. World around town is Drake is in cahoots with this venue. He designed the whole venue, he probably got a little equity in the venue. I'm not sure."
Furthermore, Mack referred to Kendrick Lamar's concert The Pop Out – Ken & Friends, which was held in June this year, saying that anyone who attended the show was not allowed to perform in Toronto. He continued:
"What I'm suggesting is: nobody perform at the History 'cause they will cancel your show if Drake don't like you. I think that's janky."
Mack mentioned that he also heard reports of Blxst's show being canceled. He said that DJ Scheme had once played Lamar's diss track Not Like Us at the same place and added:
"If they knew them n*ggas weren't f*cking with Drake, they would have canceled that show."
Drake was believed to be the reason behind canceling the shows in Toronto
Kendrick Lamar and Drake's feud was a topic that remained on top of the news headlines this year. However, it even led to the alleged cancelation of a few performances by ScHoolboy Q and SiR, that were scheduled to be held in Toronto.
The cancelations happened over a gap of almost two weeks and ScHoolboy posted a tweet at the time, referring to the artists working for the record label TDE, and wrote:
"Canadian Police don't want nobody from TDE performing."
On the other hand, SiR did not speak anything about TDE in his social media posts and simply stated in a tweet that the show was canceled by the venue for unknown reasons. He wrote in another post:
"So sorry to my Toronto fans. The show has been cancelled. We're working on rescheduling for a later date."
Notably, Drake and Live Nation are the owners of History, where the rappers were scheduled to perform. This was believed to be a reason behind the cancelation, considering that Kendrick Lamar had collaborated with TDE in the early stages of his career.
Although Drake and Lamar had targeted each other through different singles over the years, the issues began with the former's collaboration with J. Cole on a song titled First Person Shooter. The single came out in 2023 and Cole referred to himself alongside Lamar and Drake as the "big three."
Lamar then aimed at Drake in Metro Boomin's song Like That, which was released in March 2024. The lineup of diss tracks started the following month with Drake releasing Push Ups on different streaming services. The rappers continued releasing more diss tracks such as Taylor Made Freestyle, Euphoria, and more.
