A Brazilian YouTuber recently took to Internet through a video and claimed that she learned English rapping Drake's songs. In the video posted by DJ Akademiks on X, she was then seen playing as well as singing the Canadian rapper's 2013 track Furthest Thing. The YouTube went on singing the verses:

"But I stay down, girl, I always stay down/ Get down, never lay down/ Promise to break everybody off before I break down. Everyone just wait now/ So much on my plate now/ People I believed in, they don't even show their face now..."

Netizens took notice to the YouTuber's video and flooded the social media platform with their comments and reactions. Here are some of the online responses found on X, formerly known as Twitter:

Another user wrote,

"This is really f*cking beautiful. Put aside the hate it’s time to come together as one all positive energy."
"On God, I’m Nigerian and my English got better by listening to drake," explained another netizen.
"Drake must have won the beef for him to get this much hate," wrote a user referring to Drizzy's beef with Kendrick Lamar.

While many netizens came up with some positive comments, a number of them mocked the video. One netizen tweeted:

"She didn't learn in school? 😅"
"Nobody cares. You can literally learn English on YouTube for free," added a tweet.
"This drake PR has been insane lately like this n*gga died. Next thing you know this n*gga saved someone’s cat from burning in a fire or something. Also I call cap," commented a user.

A Mexican rapper had previously credited Drake and some other rappers in helping him learn English

This wasn't the first time that Drizzy's name got involved while an artist credited him for helping them learn English. 25-year-old Mexican rapper Peso Pluma spoke about the same in June 2024 after he made an appearance on Complex’s 360 with Speedy.

Pluma was present for the interview to promote his latest album, ÉXODO. The rapper told Speedy Morman,

"When I was in the U.S., I wasn't able to have a real conversation with someone, you know? I had this goal to learn English and I didn't know how to do it. Music was very special for me to learn English, because that's the way that I learned."

He added that he didn't learn the language from classes and books. Pluma added that he had learned most of the language from music, primarily hip-hop. The interviewer then named a few artists, including Kendrick Lamar and Drake and asked Pluma if he learned English listening to their music, to which he replied with a "Yes."

According to an article published by Huffpost in May 2024, several schools had undertaken unconventional ways to teach English. These methods included the beef between Lamar and Drake as well as Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department album.
