On December 15, 2024, Apple TV+ premiered a special edition of Carpool Karaoke in honor of Christmas, featuring stars like Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa and Chappell Roan. The hour-long show, titled A Carpool Karaoke Christmas, saw Apple TV's Zane Lowe take over for James Corden, the show's creator, as he drove around the three singers.

Lowe joined Roan in Missouri, Dua Lipa in Tokyo, and Lady Gaga in LA as each singer sang a mix of their original songs along with some Christmas classics.

The Christmas Carpool Karaoke surprise left pop fans delighted, with one person tweeting:

Chappell Roan brought her parents to A Carpool Karaoke Christmas

When Apple TV's Zane Lowe went to pick up Chappell Roan at Springfield, Missouri, the pop star was accompanied by her parents, who also joined her in the special.

According to Variety, Roan's parents spoke about being proud of their daughter after Lowe asked her mom how she felt to have inspired the singer's popular song, Pink Pony Club.

“I started to tear up just listening to her sing it just now. We love her so much and we’re so proud of what she does and who she is and what she stands for. I love singing it with her at her shows and I love it when you can just see the people just respond to that song so much. And even when we’re grown up, we really care about what our parents think about us," Roan's mom said.

Roan also spoke about having grown up “quite religious” in the conservative state of Missouri, adding that she had "conversation after conversation" with people around her and never gave up on them.

Roan also sang some Christmas specials including Last Christmas along with her song Good Luck, Babe!

Zane Lowe met Lady Gaga in LA for her session. Gaga is the only artist of the three to have her own Christmas song, titled Christmas Tree.

Gaga also performed her recent song with Bruno Mars, Die With a Smile, and revealed the behind-the-scenes process of recording the song with her fellow artist.

"I went to see him [Bruno Marsa] at like 10 o’clock at night. He played me the idea and then we wrote the second verse, then we cut it at 2 in the morning. Bruno had me singing for four hours. He had an exact way that he wanted to hear it and I wanted to give him that," she said.

Lady Gaga and Lowe also performed an in-studio cover of Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, which was released as an independent single along with the Carpool Karaoke special.

In Tokyo, Zane Lowe joined Dua Lipa as the singer sang Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody, Houdini and New Rules, among other tracks.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, A Carpool Karaoke Christmas is now available on Apple TV+ at select locations and will be released globally on December 20, 2024.
