ASAP Rocky has recently released a new single titled Highjack, which features singer Jessica Pratt. While the track's lyrics have been getting a lot of attention from the public, Highjack was also trending since the rapper had seemingly dissed Drake.
The lyrics for the song state:
"These n*ggas want my wife bad, the people want my next track / N*ggas swear they pimpin', Scottie sippin', get your wife back."
NFR Podcast's official X account shared the song in a tweet after the song was released, and fans began leaving their thoughts under it. After they heard the song, several people believed that the track was dissing Drake, with one person wondering if it was "the diss they were hyping."
"This was the diss they were hyping up? LOL," the netizen wrote.
A few users also supported ASAP Rocky in the tweets, as they stated that Rocky had "always been the better rapper."
"Rocky has always been the better rapper. Glad we are starting to realize", a user wrote.
"Bringing Asap Rocky on a diss about Kendrick. Really showed how obessed Drake is to riri and ASAP", another user wrote.
"This 2 good I'm crying ASAP dropping a classic", a third user wrote.
The comments section was also flooded with reactions from Drake's supporters, who claimed that the Canadian rapper had "already buried him [Rocky]."
"Drake has always been better", a reaction reads.
"Drake already buried him", another reaction reads.
"What is asap rocky trying to do", a third reaction reads.
Some reactions even addressed the beef between Rocky and Drake while praising the new single.
"This battle has become increasingly difficult", a reaction stated.
"Plenty shots. Loved every one too lol", another reaction stated.
Drake and Rocky have been involved in a feud for a long time, and the problems began after the latter began dating Rihanna in 2021. Rocky and Rihanna also share two sons, RZA and Riot. It is worth noting that Rihanna was reportedly romantically linked to Drake between 2009 and 2016.
In 2023, Drake reportedly targeted Rocky in his single For All the Dogs, and the latter responded to it in Kid Cudi's song Wow. Rocky rapped a few lines that were aimed at Drake in Wow.
ASAP Rocky's new album is scheduled to release on August 30
ASAP Rocky's last album, Testing, was released around six years ago, and his fans have been waiting for his next major project. His fourth album, Don't Be Dumb, is set to be released on August 30, 2024. Two singles from the project, Sh*ttin' Me and RIOT, have already left an impression on the audience.
Also known as Rakim Athelaston Mayers, he teased the album while making his debut at the Paris Fashion Week in June this year. He performed on three songs from the album that were not released then, and the album's title was revealed towards the end of the show with a link for presale.
Rocky later posted a video through his official page on X (formerly Twitter) on June 23, confirming the release date.
"#DONTBEDUMB | AWGEST 30TH (fire emoji)," he wrote.
ASAP Rocky also spoke to Dazed magazine in 2023, where he addressed the album by saying that he was "experimenting" and that it was supposed to be his "best work yet." He added that he wanted to "leave expectations wide and open."
"I don't want to tell you what to expect. I just want people to experience it how they do naturally," the rapper said.
Apart from this album, the 35-year-old will appear in two films, If I Had Legs I'd Kick You and High and Low. The release date for both films remains unknown.
