On July 25, rapper and record producer Soulja Boy went on Instagram Live and issued a response to Drake for seemingly dissing him on his new track featuring Lil Yachty.
“Drake, better keep this sh*t light, my boy. This is your first and only warning, my boy. I’m telling you some gangster sh*t. If you doing a shoutout, cool. If you in any form, shape, or way trying to disrespect me or sneak this, I’m on your a*s, my boy,” Soulja Boy warned Drake.
His response came in the wake of online streamer and influencer Kai Cenat premiering Drake and Lil Yachty’s latest unreleased collab on his Instagram Live session on July 24.
Reportedly titled Super Soak, the track revealed Drake rapping, “I’m watching the moves, playin’ it close / SOD, super soak.” It was seemingly a dig at Soulja Boy’s 2007 single Super Soak as well as at his record label Stacks on Deck (SOD).
Exploring Soulja Boy and Drake’s latest beef
Since the online speculation arose that Drake seemingly dissed Soulja Boy in his recent unreleased song with Lil Yachty, the Yahhh! hitmaker criticized Champagne Papi in his Instagram livestream on Thursday.
He showed Kai Cenat’s post on his laptop and later addressed Drake directly, saying it was his “first and only warning.”
Soulja Boy further continued by saying how it wasn’t the “best idea” for Drake and his “fam” to “come” at him, adding that if it was a “shoutout” it was fine, but if it was a “diss” he better be careful.
“You just went at Kendrick Lamar. He did what he did. I don’t think you wanna come at Soulja Boy. I’m just letting you know that so if it’s a shoutout stamp you and Yachty, y’all need to stamp, okay? That if ain’t no shoutout, speak on how you feel my boy. We can get to it,” the Pretty Boy Swag rapper said.
Meanwhile, Drake and Lil Yachty’s collaboration may have been a response to Soulja Boy's roasting Drake on social media. Earlier this month, Big Draco took to X and weighed in on the rap battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, claiming how the latter “disappointed” him. Soulja also mentioned how none of 6 God’s associates had his back during the feud.
“Swag Season July 28 never let a n***a try me like I’m Drake. You disappointed me @Drake,” Big Draco wrote.
In a follow-up post, he went on to add:
“Doing all them weak a*s songs with them n***az look where It got u none of them... you collab with or took on tour had yo back @Drake.”
Notably, the Atlanta native also ridiculed Drizzy during his 2019 appearance on The Breakfast Club. Back then, one of the hosts Charlamagne Tha God hailed Drake as “the biggest rapper in the world.”
In response, Soulja went on record to say:
“Draaaaakkkkkkeeee?! That n***a who got bodied by Pusha T? Drake?! Y’all... better stop playing with me in here. Y’all talking about the light-skinned n***a from [Degrassi]? Stop playing with me like I didn’t teach Drake everything he knows.”
Later, during an interview with HipHopDX in 2022, Big Draco explained how he never thought his comment would become “viral” and that he was just there on Charlamagne’s show to have a “good time” and speak his mind.
