Last year, Cardi B announced that the album would come out sometime in 2024, In a June 2024 interview with Rolling Stone, the rapper explained that she was working towards completing the project but that there was a lot left to do.

While it remains to be confirmed whether Ice Spice was referring to Cardi on her diss track, others have also commented on the delay. On July 18, Rapper-turned-podcaster, Joe Budden, on his namesake podcast, commented that Cardi B would never release a new album and just remain a "singles artist." He said:

“We'll never get another album again. I'm standing on that. Cardi's got something dropping with my man Rob[49] on Friday. That's gonna be crazy, but that's what Cardi's gonna be now, just a singles artist.”

While Budden later apologized for his comments, Cardi B put him on blast on X for creating a toxic narrative about her life and music.
