Bruno Mars reshared an Instagram reel by @kealidance where the user can be seen dancing to Bruno Mars's new song with Lady Gaga Die with a Smile with the caption "Lady Gaga on her way to get Bruno Mars out of debt."
After a screenshot of the story was posted on X by Pop Base, users took to comment on Bruno's humor,
His story is about allegations against him in March this year which claimed that the singer is in a $50 million gambling debt at Park MGM Las Vegas, his long-term residency.
After Bruno Mars' Instagram story on jokes about alleged debt rumors went viral, fans pointed out Bruno's self-deprecating humor.
A fan while commenting on Pop Base's X post found him "wholesome" and "unserious"
"He’s sooo wholesome and unserious I can’t😭😭" - said one user
While others found it hard to believe that Mars could have been in debt,
"It was crazy to think bruno was even in debt 😭 like did we forget who is he" - says another user
Another user wondered if Lady Gaga would "actually" help him out if he was in debt,
"Haha, love Bruno's sense of humor! 😂 Do you think Gaga would actually help him out?" - commented a user
Some fans even went ahead and shipped the two popular singers,
"Ahaha are they a couple tho? Because lately it seems so, and there are some rumors on this 👀👀" commented another user
Die with a Smile is Bruno Mars' first release since gambling debt rumors
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars released their duet Die with a Smile, a soft rock collaboration in August 2024 and as per Billboard the track sold 21,000 copies seven days after its release. The song marked Mars' first release since gambling allegations.
This isn't the first time Bruno has used humour to respond to debt rumors. While speaking to John Katsilometes during an interview published earlier this month, Bruno joked about the rumors saying,
"I love the lore that I am a Las Vegas lounge singer in debt to the mob. I can work with that."
News about Bruno Mars' alleged gambling debt became viral after NewsNation published a report in which a "well placed Vegas insider" claimed the singer owed so much debt to MGM that the casino "basically owned him."
A spokesperson for MGM International Resorts cleared the rumors after they told, Mars owed no debt to the company. As per the chain's official statement at the time,
"Any speculation otherwise is completely false, he has no debt with MGM. Together we are excited to continue creating unforgettable experiences for our guests."
Since Bruno is known to play poker, the rumors didn't take much time to become viral. A video of Bruno's Carpool Karaoke with James Corden in December 2016 surfaced online where can be seen saying that he plays poker to pay his bills. However, MGM's statement cleared the nature of Mars' partnership with the company.
