The latest episode of the Brilliant Idiots podcast, hosted by Charlamagne Tha God and Andrew Schulz aired on December 7, 2024. It saw the co-hosts discuss Schulz and his family supposedly receiving death threats.
Andrew spoke about the death threats that Kendrick Lamar's fans were making over his statements made in response to seemingly being dissed on wacced out murals. The song is a part of the Compton rapper's sixth studio album.
"Some of the Kendrick stans have been posting sh*t telling me they're gonna take out my family on like pictures of my child... this is the nature of the game. Some of his extreme fans, on a picture of my eight-month-old baby, are saying 'You better take security everywhere because I'm coming for your whole family'," Andrew Schulz explained.
The comedian also highlighted that he doesn't blame Kendrick, citing that as celebrities they cannot have control over what their fans say or do. He proceeded to explain the fear he harbors for his family's safety.
"But to that person, I go, You're talking about my kid man". I have to screenshot you and know who you are," the comedian added.
Unpacking the Kendrick Lamar and Andrew Schulz beef
Before Kendrick Lamar surprise-dropped GNX, Andrew Schulz aired an episode of The Flagrant Podcast hosting the ShxtsnGigs Podcast. It was uploaded to YouTube on July 17, 2024, and clips from this episode went viral over their discussion of "bi-racial relationships."
While speaking on the topic of the "Black Girlfriend effect," the comedian seemingly poked fun at white men being physically abused in biracial relationships.
"[Men who date Black women] shave their hair because they start losing it. Because they are so stressed being around that Black girl complaining about sh*t all the f**king time. They grow beards cause there's more cushion when they get slapped the fu*k out. I think the Black Girlfriend effect, it might be a protective instinct," the comedian stated.
Kendrick Lamar seemingly addressed Andrew's statements on track 1 of GNX. In the song, he rapped against the stereotypical remarks made on The Flagrant Podcast.
"Don't let no white comedian talk about no Black woman, that's law / I know propaganda work for them, and fu*k whoever that's close to them," Kendrick Lamar rapped.
Following the album's release, Andrew shared his thoughts on Kendrick Lamar dissing him on wacced out murals in a Flagrant episode uploaded to YouTube on December 5, 2024.
"Listen, rappers are telling comedians we need to be more respectful to women. Listen, no one has respected women more through art than rappers. So I completely understand how a rapper could look at a comedian telling a joke and be like, Yo, you need to switch that sh*t up... Be more like us, b*tches ain't nothing but hos and tricks, I beat my b*tch with a stick," he said.
His co-host, Akaash Singh, took Andrew's side and furthered the discussion around Kendrick's support for the black community by highlighting Lamar's support for artists like Chris Brown and R. Kelly.
Andrew Schulz seemingly doubled down on his previous statements, citing them as jokes, while also making "s*xual remarks" about Kendrick Lamar. The comedian seemingly joked about wishing to "make love" to the Compton rapper if they ever met.
"I would make love to him and there's nothing he could do about it. Just Kendrick Lamar, I would make love to him. And the only thing that he could do is decide if it's consensual or not," he said.
He continued by alluding to Kendrick Lamar's 5'6" stature, claiming the rapper wouldn't be able to defend himself if they ever ran into each other.
"I would go so far as to say he couldn’t stop most people on the planet from having s*x with him... He’s talking a lot of sh*t, but if it came down to it I could put him on my lap, I could feed him a bottle"
After the video was uploaded, Andrew Schulz was reportedly targeted by several upset Kendrick Lamar fans and individuals who found his statements about Black women to be racially motivated.
The comedian would then take to social media to address the backlash, seemingly egging Kendrick Lamar's fanbase in tweets by referring to them as "K-Bots".
Reports from XXL suggest that while Andrew Schulz continues to stand by his statements as only being jokes, several individuals have been seen taking them more seriously.
Andrew's statements against Kendrick Lamar have supposedly led to him receiving multiple death threats, with social media users claiming that the comedian's "L.A. privileges" have been revoked.
