Jack Black and his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass are facing backlash for a joke about an assassination attempt on Donald Trump. During a performance in Sydney on July 14, Black gave Gass a birthday cake and urged him to make a wish.

Gass joked that he hoped the next attempt on Trump's life would succeed. This joke came just hours after the reported attempt on Trump's life.

The crowd seemed to have loved it as they became very loud after hearing this. However, once the video of the event and the incident went viral on X, netizens took to the social media platforms to criticize Black for the joke and express their opinion.

“This is the official downfall of Jack Black”, wrote one X user.
“The people who claim to be moral and empathetic are currently celebrating an assa*sination attempt on a president”, said another user.
“Kyle Glass needs to be jailed. He’s inciting violence against President Trump just like Joe Biden did. @SecretService should be taking all of these threats seriously. Shame on you and your band @jackblack”, commented another X user, tagging the Secret Service.
“Too far. We need to shut Jack Black down. Boycott him and make it clear to Hollywood he isn’t worth the trouble to hire”, said another X user.

Other people also felt the same.

“Tenacious D "Don't miss Trump next time" These people are sick and want you dead”, commented another netizen.
“God dammit Jack Black you're breaking my heart here. Unbelievable”, another heartbroken user said.
“That is horrible. Jack Black just lost big time”, said another user.
“I long for the day when we will stop getting political opinions from entertainers”, wrote another X user.

School of Rock actor Jack Black and his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass recently landed themselves in hot waters. This happened during their performance on Sunday, July 14 in Australia with their band Tenacious D.

Gass, whose birthday was on July 14, received a birthday cake from the actor.

“Make a wish,” Black then urged the singer.

He then answered,

“Don’t miss Trump next time.”

This happened after Donald Trump nearly escaped after being shot in the ear on Saturday, July 13 during a rally in Pennsylvania. At approximately 6:15 pm local time, shots were heard, and the former US President was seen grabbing his ear as Secret Service operatives hurried to him.

The shooter was able to get off a volley of shots at Trump before counter-snipers ended the assassination attempt. Two spectators were hurt by the actor, and one spectator died. Nevertheless, a statement following the incident was posted on the website of the Republican National Committee stating that Trump was "doing well".

The former US President then uploaded a social media post on his Truth Social account shortly after the incident, expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased and those who were seriously injured.

He wrote:

"I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin."

Meanwhile, the perpetrator of the shooting was later identified by the FBI as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20. Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi further told NBC that the shooter was "neutralized" by the Secret Service right away at the event.

Meanwhile, once the video of Black and Gass cracking the joke went viral, they faced backlash from the internet users.

The authorities further informed the public that the incident is still being looked into, and further information is being sought.
