Isaac Hayes's estate is taking Donald Trump to court for using the American singer-songwriter's song Hold On, I'm Coming at his campaign rallies. The singer's son, Isaac Hayes III, shared that they were granted an emergency hearing for their lawsuit against the former president on social media on Sunday, August 25.
The news comes after the late musician's estate filed a copyright infringement notice and threatened Trump's campaign with further legal action. After the singer's son shared a copy of the lawsuit on X, netizens were quick to express their support.
"This is the perfect response and I hope the court won't allow the defendant to move the court [d]ate from 9/3. Delay is his friend," a netizen on X wrote.

More people showed their support towards Isaac Hayes's family and their decision to sue for the unfair use of his music. One fan, in particular, urged them not to settle and get Trump on the stand.
"Don't settle. Get them on the stand. They think they can do whatever they want," another one said on X.
"Bravo! Excellent move to protect and defend your dad's iconic reputation. Go get them; don't let them get away with anything whatsoever," an X user said.
"Great bro, that's good to know please sue their a*ses to the ground," another one said.
Meanwhile, other netizens are not so hopeful about the legal case against the former US president but shared their support nonetheless.
"Friend, do what you have to do, but fair warning, if they show they actually had the right through a subscription paid for by the venue, this is not going to go well. I hope you used a lawyer familiar with these issues and not some family friend," an X user mused.
"I don't think there is a legal case IANAL, but whenever a very popular artist says to a politician don't use my art and I'm not in your favor, fans listen. Especially younger ones. And artists should speak up. Regardless of the paperwork, it IS their creation," another one pointed out.

Isaac Hayes's son "repeatedly asked" Donald Trump not to use his song during campaign rallies
The day before the lawsuit was filed against Donald Trump's use of Isaac Hayes's Hold On, I'm Coming song, the musician's son took to X on August 10 to share that they had previously reached out to the former President.
Hayes III said that he had asked Trump and his representative to refrain from using his father's song in Trump's campaign rallies, writing:
"Today, on the anniversary of my father Isaac Hayes' death we have repeatedly asked Donald Trump, the RNC, and his representatives not to use 'Hold On, I'm Coming' written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter during campaign rallies but ye again, in Montana they used it."
The next day, they filed a lawsuit, urging the "cessation of use, removal of all related videos, [and] a public disclaimer" from Trump's camp, including a licensing fee of $3 million.
In the X post that Hayes III shared, they have given Trump until August 16 to comply with the demands before they take further legal action.
It's not the first time Trump has seen a setback from musical acts amid his presidential campaign. Foo Fighters also slammed Trump's unauthorized usage of their My Hero anthem during their campaign in Arizona, as well as Celine Dion, The Rolling Stones, and others.
