Comedian Nikki Glaser is going viral after singing a parody of Taylor Swift's Cruel Summer as she was stranded at the airport after a canceled Eras Tour show. On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, the 40-year-old actress took to her TikTok to share a video of her and her sister, Lauren, singing:
"We're stuck at an airport gate / On our way to Vienna on a flight that was late / Planning outfits and singing songs / We had no idea how things could go wrong."
The Glaser siblings were stranded at the airport en route to Vienna to attend Taylor Swift's concert at the Ernst Happel Stadium. However, all three shows (Thursday through Saturday) at the venue were canceled after government officials learned of a possible planned attack. The sisters, switching between lines, continued:
"Then we get a text from our mom / That the shows have been canceled / Because a threat from a bomb / And we screamed in a Hudson News / 'What the hell do I do with these goddamn sparkly shoes?' / I dyed my hair pink for nothing, We're f*cked!"
Nikki's Cruel Summer parody soon went viral, and netizens were quick to react to the video, which was also shared on the comedian's official Instagram account. Many praised the humorous remix, stating:
Internet users continued to gush about the song, with one jokingly inviting both Nikki and Lauren to a Taylor Swift Karaoke Dance Night. Here are some comments seen under the comedian's IG post:
Others quipped they don't need to go to the Eras Tour anymore, thanks to the parody. One fan even called it "high art."

Taylor Swift's album Lover
Taylor Swift's concerts were canceled after Austrian authorities reported they arrested two men with suspected connections to ISIS on Wednesday. In a press conference on Thursday, the country's chancellor, Karl Nehammer, stated:
"The suspects actually had very specific and detailed plans to cause a tragedy on the scale of Paris, Manchester or Moscow."
This prompted the authorities to call off Swift's concerts.
Nikki revealed in an Instagram story that she managed to reach Vienna with her sister after a 32-hour layover in Washington, D.C. She was later spotted at an impromptu Swifties congregation in the city on August 8.
Following the cancellation, several fans gathered together on the recently renamed Cornelia Street in Vienna. The city changed the name as a tribute to the pop star and her iconic 2019 album, Lover (Cornelia Street is the 9th track on the project).
