Annual traveling rock tour titled Vans Warped Tour is allegedly planning a return in 2025 after a five-year hiatus. The news, first reported by Rock Feed, claimed that the upcoming Warped Tour would be presented by Live Nation and the former’s founder Kevin Lyman would be actively involved.
In the wake of the now-viral reports, fans of the beloved tour are having diverse reactions. Some are showing their excitement and rejoicing on social media platforms, while others are raising doubts about the tour’s fares and quality, among other things.
For instance, an X user commented on Rock Feed’s official post:
“Tickets gonna be through the roof.”
Several others joined the conversation on the platform and shared similar reactions, expressing concerns about the ticket prices.
“I’ll believe it when I see it. If it’s real tickets better not be more than $50,” a netizen wrote.
“Yeahhh… but hopefully this doesn’t get packaged into a $300/tix type thing,” one netizen wrote.
“They NEED to ensure it remains affordable. Part of what made warped so appealing is the value! We’d pay like $50 to see hella bands. If they make it When We Were Young/Sick New World expensive, it’ll be extremely dumb,” wrote another.
Others simply showed their enthusiasm at the prospect.
“This would be great. We need more rock shows and up-and-coming bands to see live,” a person wrote.
“I NEVER WENT TO WARPED TOUR LET ME HAVE THIS,” wrote another.
Meanwhile, some questioned the structure of the potential tour.
“Here is the real question everyone wants to know: is it going to be like it was, a festival about music and smaller artists... or is it going to be a corporate event? festivals have changed. i.e. Coachella/Burning Man. series reboot with ad placements everywhere? or a revival?” a fan asked.
"This is only cool if they don’t follow they same formula as sick new world and wwwy imo," another user added.
So far, Van Warped Tour's official website shows no confirmation of its alleged return.
Everything you need to know about Vans Warped Tour
Warped Tour was a US-based touring music festival that featured up-and-coming artists and bands from fields of rock, alternative, pop-punk, and indie rock. Co-founded by Kevin Lyman, it ran from 1995 to 2019 across the USA and Canada. Once, it even made a stop in Australia.
Warped Tour became Vans Warped Tour a year after its first successful tour when skateboard shoe manufacturing giant Vans became its primary sponsor. Over the years, the tour has featured bands including Deftones, Sublime, No Doubt, Dead Sara, Motion City Soundtrack, and more.
Likewise, Vans Warped Tour is often credited with having launched popular artists such as Bebe Rexha, Katy Perry, Machine Gun Kelly, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Blink-182, and Yelawolf, among others.
In 2018, Kevin Lyman announced that the Vans Warped Tour would end with a final and full cross-country tour, marking its 25th anniversary the following year, with three stops at Atlantic City, Cleveland, and Mountain View. In 2019, during an interview with Kerrang!, Lyman explained his decision to wrap up the tour:
“It got very frustrating around 2017. I was challenged by the fractured fan base… the sense of community and what I got involved in this for, and what brought me into punk rock that I said ‘You know, if it’s changed this much, maybe it’s time for me to wind this thing down.’”
He further noted how fans started demanding more of the bands featured on the Vans Warped Tour rather than showing “love” and “acceptance” for music as a whole.
“I realized that we had pushed the audience down to a young level… Warped got known as a young [tour.] But I did that because I wanted young people to get exposed to this music, to maybe support independent music for a longer time,” Lyman further added.
Kevin Lyman also mentioned that, unlike the belief that he ended the Vans Warped Tour as he was “not making any money,” it was because it was no longer “feeding my soul and my heart,” adding how it was 90 percent about the community and 10 percent about the money.
Notably, over the years, there have been many unconfirmed reports of Vans Warped Tour’s return. Even musician Chris Fronzak once shared that he was interested in reviving the tour.
