On Tuesday, December 17, Megan Thee Stallion filed a petition to get a restraining order against Tory Lanez. According to The Guardian, Stallion submitted a petition letter at the Los Angeles Superior Court, asking the judge to prevent Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, from allegedly using third parties to harass Megan, whose legal name is Megan Pete.
The letter states:
"Even now, while behind bars, Mr Peterson shows no signs of stopping. Despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Ms Pete, Mr Peterson continues to to subject her to repeated trauma and re-victimization."
The petition also claimed that Lanez allegedly engaged in online harassment of the Cobra rapper even before his imprisonment.
Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez first met in April 2020, and the shooting incident occurred three months later, in July 2020.
In October of that year, the Canadian native was charged with felony assault with a semi-automatic firearm and was put behind bars in December 2022, when he received a 10-year prison sentence after a three-year-long legal battle.

July 12, 2020: Stallion and Lanez both attend Kylie Jenner's party, where the former is shot
As per The Guardian, Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez, who were seen hanging out together in an Instagram Live session three months ago, arrived at Kylie Jenner's Hollywood Home to attend a party. At around 4:30 the next morning, police responded to a call reporting gunshots at the party and arrested Lanez for allegedly carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle.
A month later, Page Six revealed the BOA rapper as the victim of Lanez's gunshot, who incurred a foot injury from the incident. Megan Thee Stallion confirmed it on her Instagram handle in August 2020.
September 25, 2020: Tory Lanez takes a hit at Megan in Money Over Fallouts
Months after the shooting incident, Tory Lanez dropped a new album, DAYSTAR, with one of its tracks taking a hit at Megan Thee Stallion, casting doubt over whether or not the rapper was shot. His rap includes:
"How the f*** you get shot in your foot, don't hit no bones or tendons?"
October 8, 2020: Lanez is charged with felony assault in an LA court
Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion appeared at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office with their lawyers, where the former was charged with felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
December 14, 2021: New details surrounding the shooting incident emerge in the court
As per NPR, LAPD detective Ryan Stogner gave his testimony at a preliminary hearing, disclosing more details surrounding the incident. Stogner claimed that before the shooting, Lanez yelled, "Dance, b****!" at Stallion, who was half-in, half-out of the car.
The detective later told Rolling Stones:
"Megan immediately felt pain to her feet, observed blood, fell to the ground, and then crawled to an adjacent driveway of a residence. ... She described her injuries as bleeding profusely"
April 24, 2022: Megan addresses the incident in a televised interview for the first time
Megan Thee Stallion appeared as a guest on CBS Mornings, where she directly addressed the incident on-air for the first time, saying:
"He is standing up over the window shooting. And I didn't even want to move. I didn't want to move too quick. I don't know if he's going to shoot something that's, like, super important. I don't know if he could shoot me and kill me."
October 26, 2022: Tory Lanez is placed under house arrest
NPR reported that due to Tory Lanez allegedly attacking singer August Alsina, the rapper's bail was violated, leading to him being placed under house arrest until the trial regarding the shooting incident began. He was also asked to wear an ankle monitor at all times. The trial was scheduled to start in the LA court on December 12, 2022.
December 23, 2022: Lanez is convicted on three felony charges
After hearing all the witnesses' testimonies, the jury convicted Tory Lanez on all three felony charges: assault with a semi-automatic firearm, possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm, and negligent discharge of a firearm. He was taken into custody after the verdict was read in court.
According to ABC News, Lanez was initially set to be sentenced in January 2023, which was delayed several times as the rapper hired new attorneys, filing for motions of a new trial. Finally, on August 8, 2023, Tory was sentenced to 10 years of prison without the possibility of parole.
