Former Good Morning America host TJ Holmes has had it with the "awful" jokes and memes about Justin Timberlake after the latter's arrest on DWI-related charges early on Tuesday.
On the Wednesday episode of the Amy and TJ podcast with former GMA 3 co-host and real-life partner Amy Robach, Holmes stood by Timberlake and blasted the mockery that the SexyBack singer has received online. Talking about the possible effect the latest controversy and jokes have on the singer's kids, he said:
"I know this dude's kids have to see that and endure that. He's a superstar, but he's a dad."
He added:
"I'm looking at a human being in a human experience that really sucks for him."
While the journalist noted that he was "not defending anybody," he aimed to remind the listeners that "there is a human side" to the story. Talking about the aftermath of the incident, the former CNN anchor shared:
"[The social media] part sucks. As big as this star is, you know what the day is about to be like."
His podcast co-host Amy Robach also wished "the best" for the former NSYNC member's family, chiming in that she feels "sad" for the singer or "anyone who has to deal with the aftermath of drinking too much."

Prominent British comedian Ricky Gervais took advantage of the controversy to slyly promote his co-owned Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka, going as far as tagging the singer in a post on his X account. The post went viral and got mixed reactions from X users.
Apart from TJ Holmes, Gayle King has also come to Timberlake's defense against the social media jokes at the singer's expense, sharing on CBS Mornings on Wednesday that the Cry Me a River singer is a "really, really great guy," and is someone who is not "reckless."
