Well-known singer SiR, also known as Sir Darryl Farris, recently announced through social media that his upcoming show in Toronto has been canceled. The news came a few days after ScHoolboy Q faced a similar situation and wrote in a tweet that the Canadian police wouldn't allow any artist from the record label Top Dawg Entertainment at the venue.
SiR wrote in a tweet on July 30, 2024, that the canceled show would be held on another date. He clarified the details leading to the show's cancelation in another tweet which reads:
"For those wondering, we sold that show out. It was cancelled by the venue. Not sure why. My apologies again to those that came just to see me."
Darryl Farris' show was scheduled to be held at History, which was owned by Drake and Live Nation. This is the same place where ScHoolboy Q was also supposed to perform this month.
Notably, Drake's association with the venue was speculated to be a reason why the performances of both rappers were canceled. This was because Lamar was a part of TDE in the past and he already had a feud with Drake earlier this year, leading to problems between the duo.
Meanwhile, the news of SiR's performance being canceled in Toronto received negative feedback from the public and they took to the comments section of the artist's post on X (formerly Twitter) to share their responses. One of them wrote:
"Toronto scared of TDE. Plain and simple."
A few users targeted Drake in their replies.
"Drake is sore & sorry loser. Putting ego over his own money", a reaction stated.
"Toronto drake got the hood locked in hahahaha sing inside the bus mate", another reaction stated.
"Yep. We about to cancel Drake", a third reaction stated.
However, some people refused to believe SiR.
"Why can't you admit it was for safety instead of contributing to narratives lol?", a user wrote.
"You ain't sell out not ticket a lie you tell", another user wrote.
Users even addressed the consequences of everything that happened with Darryl Harris and spoke up about what might happen next.
"Watch metro n future show get cancelled last min there .. we going to come back to this tweet", a user stated.
"Worry not brother – Karma's coming", another user stated.
"This sh*t only getting started", a third user stated.
SiR's latest performance in Philadelphia received a positive response from the audience
While the Inglewood, California native's performance cancelation at Toronto is now trending in the headlines, his fans happily enjoyed his appearance at The Fillmore in North Philadelphia on July 24, 2024, as part of his ongoing Life Is Good Tour.
SiR performed some of his hit tracks at the venue and the show started with a performance by his brother Davion Farris. This was followed by the appearances of artists such as Zacari and Darry Farris eventually arrived on stage in the end.
He even addressed the themes of his latest album, Heavy, which came out in March this year. There was a moment where he told the audience to select a single of their choice and something that was not included in his setlist. He continued performing on songs such as Ricky's Song and I'm Trying My Hardest.
The 37-year-old announced the tour in April this year through Instagram with a photo and wrote:
"Life Is Good Tour Presale starts today @ 10am local time. Code: KARMA. Which city you sliding to?"
Tickets for some of the shows were sold out in a brief period after the tour was announced. The final performance will be held at the Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, on August 22, 2024.
