Billy Ray Cyrus is allegedly suing his son Trace Cyrus for voicing out his plea for his dad to get help and focus on his well-being. The elder brother of Miley Cyrus shared on his Instagram on Saturday, January 25, saying that their father is threatening him with "legal action." In a message directly addressed to his "Dad," he wrote:
"Dad my message was beyond loving. I could have been extremely honest about a lot more but I don't want to put your business out there like that. But for you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace."
Also referencing Pappy, who is presumably his grandfather and Billy Ray Cyrus' father, the elder Cyrus sibling doubled down on his disappointment towards his adoptive father, adding:
"Pappy is looking down at you with such disappointment I can assure you. You should be ashamed of yourself. I will always love you but I will no longer respect you as a man."
Trace Cyrus further claimed that everyone close to his father was terrified to tell him how they feel or think about him but he wasn't and that was the reason why he spoke out. He also urged his dad to "Get help."
His statement came just days after he expressed concern for his father's well-being following Billy Ray's performance at Donald Trump's Liberty Ball. On January 23, Trace took to Instagram to say how it seemed that the world had beaten down his father, and how it was obvious to everyone but him. He further claimed:
"Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you've pushed all of us away."
He also talked about his father's health, adding:
"You're not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it."
That said, he assured his dad in the message that he would be there for him and that he was willing to help if the country star was willing to receive help.
Trace Cyrus says he hasn't heard from his dad amid the alleged "legal action" from Billy Ray Cyrus
Following his Instagram post sharing how Billy Ray Cyrus was planning to take legal action against him for speaking out about his concern over his dad's health, Trace Cyrus claimed that the country star has yet to reach out to him. In a now-deleted Instagram Story that he also shared on Saturday, January 25, Miley Cyrus' brother said, per Billboard:
"For all of you wondering no I still haven't heard from my dad. He did contact a family member to let me know he's taking legal action against me for encouraging him to get help,"
Trace Cyrus also included a message directly addressed to his father in the said Instagram Story urging the country star to reach out to him "like a man." He wrote:
"Dad I live 30 miles away from you. You could've just come & talked to me like a man."
Billy Ray Cyrus has yet to comment on his son Trace Cyrus' allegations that he was taking legal action against him or his previous message calling him to seek help. That said, the country star announced on Friday, January 4, that he would be releasing an album this summer, produced by his younger son, Briason.
