Tupac Shakur murder suspect Keefe D has accused the prosecution of tainting evidence. He also screamed at them during one of his court appearances on July 23, 2024, at the Las Vegas Judicial Court. Keefe, originally named Duane Davis, was the first suspect to be arrested and charged in relation to Shakur's murder in 2023.
During his court appearance on Tuesday, Keefe D claimed that Detective Greg Kading had tampered with evidence to frame him and that he was innocent. The gangster insisted that he was not in Las Vegas on the night of Shakur's murder.
"Greg Kading had them boxes at his house for 15 years in his attic doing all kinds of TV interviews. Them boxes should not be allowed. Them boxes should be allowed. It’s tainted evidence, everything. The man, he broke a proffer agreement and he broke the law, all kinds of stuff," he said in court.
Judge Carli Kierny confirmed to Keefe that no evidence would be used from the aforementioned boxes during the trial. However, the gangster lost his cool and accused the prosecution of already using tainted evidence against him.
"They just used something in them boxes. They just used something in them boxes! From 1996. They know that they did it," he said.
He also pointed fingers at prosecution members Binu Palal and Marc DiGiacomo, calling them "not only ugly on the outside, but ugly on the inside." Judge Kierney has previously denied the bail request for Keefe D. His attorney, Carl Arnold, reapplied for it, but the gangster is currently in jail.
The court denied bail to Keefe D after music executive Wack 100 offered to pay for it
On Tuesday, July 23, Keefe D tried to convince Judge Kierney to grant him bail again after she rejected the plea in June. Keefe's attorney, Carl Arnold, had since filed for it again. However, the judge denied the accused's pleas, explaining that she was doubtful of whether Keefe was profiting from his alleged association with Tupac Shakur's murder, per Hot New Hip Hop.
Music executive Wack 100 reportedly offered to pay $112,500 for Keefe D's bail, but Judge Kierney was not clear about the source of the money.
"I also don’t find the defense has met the burden to show that the bail is not connected to Mr. Davis ultimately talking about Mr. Shakur’s murder. Any evidence to the contrary is not credible," Judge Kierney explained.
As per The Sun, Duane Davis wanted to get out of jail to discuss film projects and raise money by filming for a reality show. Keefe's lawyer, Arnold, argued that his client had the right to make money out of his association, given that he was not yet convicted of Tupac's murder.
Meanwhile, the prosecutors claimed that Keefe D's bail money came from dubious sources and freeing him could be dangerous for society, reports The Sun. Last month, the prosecutors claimed that Wach 100 and Keefe had misguided the court about their intentions of getting bail for the gangster.
However, Keefe claimed that he had not signed any deal or TV projects with Cash 'Wack 100' Jones, with the latter confirming that it was not part of his business plan. Yet, the prosecutors presented the court with alleged recorded jail phone calls where Keefe spoke to his wife Paula about alleged TV deals.
Following this interaction, Keefe D lost his cool in court and accused prosecution members Binu Palal and Marc DiGiacomo of being "ugly on the outside and inside." He also accused LAPD task force officer Detectice Greg Kading, who was reportedly key to bringing forward Keefe's taped confession about his alleged involvement in Tupac's death in 1996, reports The Sun.
Detective Kading believed Keefe D could be arrested and charged for Shakur's death due to his alleged confession
During Tuesday's trial, Marc DiGiacomo referred to a "box with substantial evidence," which was a part of the LAPD 2008 Biggie Smalls task probe. He urged it to be examined for supposed evidence against Keefe.
The gangster lashed out at Detective Kading, claiming that the "box" had been with him for years and that he had tampered with evidence. In 2020, before Keefe was arrested in Shakur's murder case, Detective Kading told The Sun:
“I cannot think of any case in American crime history where a confessing murderer is allowed to continue and go speak blatantly about his involvement in a crime. It is unprecedented. I have no vendetta against him, but he has spoken publicly now about his role in Tupac’s murder. "
Detective Kading further claimed that Keefe D had reportedly admitted to being a part of Shakur's murder, and it was enough to arrest him and resolve the case.
"He has admitted he got the Glock hand gun for Anderson. His confession, which has been corroborated, is more than enough to arrest him and resolve the case and end it from being an unresolved investigation." Kading added.
Keefe D has denied all charges against him since his arrest in 2023. The gangster could face lifetime imprisonment if he is convicted of Tupac Shakur's murder that took place on September 7, 1996.
