On July 24, 2024, rapper Cordae dropped his latest single, Saturday Mornings, with Lil Wayne as a guest feature. The song and its music video have garnered enough online traction, with many speculating that Weezy seemingly dissed Drake in the second verse.

"It fit me like a glove, OJ hands/ I'ma need a little love from your hating a**/ Real love, real love, Mary J. playin’/ Need less yes-men and more amens/ I'ma need more real prayers and less praying hands,” Lil Wayne rapped.

Fans of Drake are now speculating that these lines were meant as a shade for the Toronto rapper. For instance, the “OJ glove” reference has previously been used in the artwork for Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track 6:16 in LA.

Meanwhile, the “praying hands” may be a direct reference to Drizzy’s 6 God logo. Elsewhere in Saturday Mornings, Lil Wayne rapped:

“I’m a goat, n**ga, you a sacrificial lamb/ You a teddy bear, n**ga, you a Teddy Graham.”

Drake fans have further claimed that this was Weezy throwing shots at Champagne Papi, whose real name is Aubrey Graham. The internet has also speculated that Weezy copied/stole Drake’s flow/style in the latest Cordae collab.

In the wake of these rumors, fans of Lil Wayne have come forward and refuted the same. An X user, @ovoxojay2, declared that both Drake and Wayne are GOATs and can coexist in hip-hop.

“Wayne is the GOAT. That birthed the GOAT… Two goats can coexist and they family forever,” the person wrote.

Several others joined in the conversation and shared similar sentiments. Some denied that Wayne dissed Drake, while others defended Weezy, saying he never copied or stole Drizzy’s style. Many even implied that it was 6 God who was mentored by Wayne and not vice versa.

“No Lil Wayne slander will be tolerated! No, he didn’t diss Drake. No, Drake did not write this. No, he is not copying Drake's style. This is that classic, unapologetic, Weezy F Baby,” an individual wrote.
“Drake got the style/flow from Wayne, so how could Wayne be copying? These kids don’t know about mixtape Weezy smh,” one individual wrote.
“People saying he’s copying Drake are forgetting where Drake came from,” another individual wrote.

Others pointed out that Lil Wayne was recently spotted wearing a signature OVO accessory and even rapped They Don’t Like Us, seemingly taking a dig at Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track Not Like Us and altering its chorus line, thus claiming he was team Drake.

“You're reaching. He was literally on stage recently waving his OVO chain saying ‘They don't like us.’ You need to relax,” a fan wrote.
“Wayne just defended Drake with an OVO chain while rapping ‘they don’t like us’ at his concert. Please stop,” one fan wrote.
“The internet tryna pit Lil Wayne against Drake 'cause of this teddy graham bar is crazy. Definitely, Kendrick Lamar fans,” another fan wrote.

Some made general comments in favor of Lil Wayne and said Drake supporters were reaching out.

“Real ones know. The new Drake fans are showing themselves,” a netizen wrote.
“They too young to know better #MixtapeWeezy,” another netizen wrote.

Drake and Lil Wayne have been longtime collaborators

Earlier this month, Lil Wayne performed at the Zouk Nightclub in Las Vegas, where he tweaked the lyrics of K-Dot’s Not Like Us with the introduction of Drake and his collab The Motto while flaunting his OVO owl-shaped pendant.

“They don’t like us,” Weezy kept rapping on stage, perhaps a play on Kendrick’s “They not like us.”

Notably, Lamar mentioned Wayne in the same diss track where he rapped:

“F**ked on Wayne girl while he was in jail, that’s connivin’/ Then get his face tatted like a b**ch apologizing.”

For the uninitiated, it was a dig at Drizzy allegedly dating Weezy’s girlfriend, Tammy Torres, when the latter was serving time in prison on gun-related charges in New York City.

In his prison journal Gone’ Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island, the New Orleans native even addressed the rumors.

“I woke up still feeling f**ked up about the f**ked-up day that I had. Hell is what it was! I’m used to arguing with my girl [daily], but finding out that she f**ked Drake was the absolute worst thing I could’ve found out,” he wrote.

Drake and Weezy have been longtime collaborators. For instance, in 2005, the latter founded the record label Young Money Entertainment. One of its first signees was Drake.

Not only that, but Lil Wayne has been featured on several of Drake’s tracks, including Miss Me, The Real Her, and Uptown. Likewise, 6 God returned the favor by appearing on Weezy’s Believe Me, Grindin’, It’s Good, and more.

Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne have also teamed up in the past for the latter’s single Mona Lisa from the 2018 album Tha Carter V.
