Ice Spice apologizes to fans for being late for her New Year's Eve show in Australia
On January 4, Ice Spice took the stage in Perth, Australia to perform in the penultimate leg of the Wildlands Festival. While on stage, the rapper apologized for being late for her New Year's Eve show in the same country following which she ended up performing for only five minutes, due to strict timings of the event.
The Brisbane edition of the Wildlands Festival took place on December 31 (New Year's Eve). In the event, Ice Spice was scheduled to perform in the 10:30-11 pm slot. However, the rapper was 30 minutes late to the stage and did not appear in front of the audience before 10:55 pm. As a result, she was only able to perform for five minutes, singing two of her songs - Princess Diana and Deli. The mic was cut off while she was singing In Ha Mood.
The organizers addressed the problem after the festival and clarified that Ice Spice's performance had to be cut short to make sure the rest of the scheduled events ran on time. In an Instagram post, the festival wrote:
“We understand that Ice Spice’s delayed arrival caused some disappointment. Managing a stacked festival means that we have to be extremely firm with set times. We had a strict curfew of 12:30 and need to ensure that the final act went on stage on time, so everyone could enjoy the New Year’s Eve countdown.”
On January 4, Spice took to the stage once again in Perth and apologized to fans for the delay. She said:
“I’m sorry guys, surely y’all can forgive me. It was my birthday and it takes a long time to look like a Barbie.”
Her statement was a follow-up to her next song, Barbie World, in collaboration with Nicki Minaj. The rapper completed her tour with her final performance in Adelaide on January 5. The tour was to promote Spice's debut album, Y2K!.
