What did Drake accuse Universal Music Group aka UMG of?

As aforementioned, Canadian rapper Drake filed a filing in a Manhattan court on Monday, November 25. The rapper has accused UMG and Spotify of giving a boost to Kendrick Lamar's track Not Like Us, artificially. The petition further read that according to Drake’s company Frozen Moments LLC, Universal Music Group "launched a campaign" to carry out the manipulation.

The petition then stated:

"[Universal Music Group] conspired with and paid currently unknown parties to use ‘bots’ to artificially inflate the spread of Not Like Us and deceive consumers into believing the song was more popular than it was in reality."

It has been reported that the petition has yet to become a full-fledged lawsuit under the New York law. While Spotify was also named in the filing, most of the allegations have been channeled towards Universal Music Group, which Drake has been associated with for a significant portion of his music career.

Shedding light on the allegations, representatives for Universal Music Group denied them, while talking to Variety. The company even claimed it was "offensive & untrue" that they had to face accusations like these. The company further described Drake's arguments in the petition to be "contrived and absurd." As of now, no further information about the petition is available.
