DDG and Halle Bailey's separation recently made headlines, and netizens were shocked to hear the news. Notably, the rapper also got involved in a beef with broadcaster Joe Budden, who addressed the split on his podcast, and the 26-year-old could not accept the latter's comments.

Meanwhile, DDG's latest X post on October 9, 2024, is trending on the social media platform, featuring him posing with his son Halo. The artist wrote a message on behalf of Halo as the caption, and it reads:

"Stop being mean to my dada - halo."

The post received a mixed reaction from the public, with most netizens slamming DDG, or Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., for using his son's name to save himself from any criticism emerging from his split from Halle Bailey. One of them commented under the post:

"Using your baby for sympathy ain't it."

Similar reactions continued below the post, with people expressing their frustration with Darryl for involving his child in the matter.

"That baby nothing but a prop to you," a user's reaction read.
"Using a baby to guilt trip us into forgiving you is completely manipulative, unfair and totally working," another reaction stated.

Netizens also addressed the message mentioned by Darryl in the photo's caption, as they reacted to the post.

"'I never said that shii,'" a user remarked on behalf of Halo.
"'Stop taking pics and go make up with my mommy' - halo," another user wrote.
"That baby ain't say dat sh*t," a third user wrote.

A section of the public also claimed that Darryl was using his family for his benefit.

"Got his whole family in a clout chasing concentration camp cuz the music ain't getting the bills paid," an X user stated.
"Yo bro you don't deserve you girl," a reaction read.
"He prolly think he getting kidnapped," an X user wrote for his son.

DDG opens up on his breakup a few days after making the official announcement

DDG revealed his split from Halle Bailey on October 3, 2024, through a statement on his Instagram story. Darryl said at the time that it was a tough decision, adding:

"I cherish the time we've spent together and the love we've shared. Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we've built and the beautiful moments we've shared."

Meanwhile, Darryl addressed the split on another occasion, during his appearance on his No Ordinary Podcast on October 7. The rapper stated that people like to "pick" on him, adding that Halle Bailey is a "princess" and the greatest person he ever met. He continued, saying:

"People feel like I didn't belong to the industry or the music industry and this and that. That's what I feel like, especially me being with Halle. She's a superstar; she's the greatest ever."

DDG also said there was a reason why he and Halle were meant to be together and become the parents of a child. He called himself and The Little Mermaid star "family," stating there are people who would support Bailey without thinking about the consequences that his family would have to face later.

Darryl mentioned that people never give a second thought about the result of their statements about people, adding:

"I feel like people should keep that in their head when they talk about us. You're talking about our family. You need to relax. I feel like y'all don't consider that at all. If I'm hurting, you know, that can be hurting my baby that you love so much."

DDG and Halle Bailey's relationship became official after the former shared an Instagram post on the occasion of Halle's birthday. While the post was deleted later, the pair were spotted together at different events, and they announced in January this year that they welcomed a son named Halo.
