Kamala Harris previously used Beyoncé's Freedom for a campaign staff meeting
This is not the first time Kamala Harris used Beyoncé's Freedom as part of her Presidential campaign. On July 22, 2024, Harris walked out to a campaign staff meeting in Delaware with the song as her background music.
According to July 25, The Guardian's report, Beyoncé reportedly permitted Harris' team to use her song in their ad. While the singer has yet to publicly endorse Harris, her decision to license the track for the campaign can be taken as her supporting the presumptive Democratic nominee.
The ad begins with Harris standing behind a podium smiling. In the next clips, the words "Kamala Harris" flash on the screen followed by the American flag. As the video continues, hordes of Democratic supporters are seen holding signs that say "Kamala." Harris can be heard narrating in the background.
“In this election we each face a question. What kind of country do we want to live in? There are some people who think we should be a country of chaos. Of fear. Of hate. But us, we choose something different. We choose freedom,” she says.
The chorus of Beyoncé's Freedom starts playing in the background, as Harris continues to talk about freedom from gun violence, bodily autonomy for women, and affordable healthcare. She also referenced her opponent, Donald Trump, in the video, referring to his convictions as she says, "Where no one is above the law."
The video concludes with her vowing to fight for a better world and asking people to join her cause. She says:
“We believe in the promise of America and we’re ready to fight for it. Because when we fight. We win. So join us. Go to Kamalaharris.com and let’s get to work."
Freedom is the 10th track from Beyoncé's sixth studio album, Lemonade. The track, featuring Pulitzer Prize winner Kendrick Lamar, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Performance in 2017.
