Eminem released his new track Houdini on Friday, May 31, 2024. The new track seemed to be a callback to his 2002 hit Without Me. Some lyrics of the song, however, led to online outrage after he referenced Megan Thee Stallion in the song.

"If I was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me / Would I really have a shot at a feat? I don’t know, but I’m glad to be, back."

This reference led to online bashing by some fans. One user took to X, and said,

"This man really using female rap beef to cling onto his declining career I’m crine."

Another user wrote,

"Rapping about a women getting shot while having a daughter btw."

"Baby this is rap not pop".

Another fan wrote,

"Something that's been done in Hip-Hop for centuries? Y'all are too soft."

Eminem makes further controversial statements in the rap

While fans had been waiting for the 51-year-old rapper's new track, upon its release, the rapper had been receiving some immense backlash on the internet. Netizens have called Eminem out for referring to Stallion's shooting incident in his new song Houdini.

He further made several controversial references, which included calling RuPaul a male cross-dresser, which has been called transphobic by many, and his kids "brats."

"Cancel me, what? Okay, that’s it, go ahead Paul, quit / Snake a** prick, you male cross dresser, fake a** b*tch / And I’ll probably get sh*t for that (watch)."

The incident whose mention had triggered many netizens occurred back in 2020 when Stallion was shot in the foot by the rapper Tory Lanez. Lanez was further sentenced to ten years behind bars for the shooting. The court found Lanez guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and reckless discharge of a firearm.

The track is a part of his album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), which is yet to be released.
