Jaguar Wright claimed that the Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake diss battle was staged to decide who would headline the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, comparing it to the 1990s Tupac and Biggie feud.

On September 8, the NFL, Roc Nation, and Apple Music confirmed Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for the Super Bowl LIX halftime show on February 9, 2025, in New Orleans. While fans celebrated, some felt Lil Wayne, a New Orleans native, deserved the spot.

Speaking on The Blue Couch podcast (released on October 8, 2024), Jaguar Wright alleged that the entire beef between Kendrick and Drake was staged so that the former could be handed the headlining gig.

She accused Roc Nation boss Jay-Z of picking Kendrick Lamar despite assuring that the 2025 Super Bowl would be a "Louisiana affair," which is Lil Wayne's home state.

Referring to Jay-Z as the "set-up king," Jaguar Wright claimed that Jay-Z picked Lamar to show people that he was still in control after the arrest of Sean "Diddy" Combs. Diddy was arrested on September 16, 2024, on three charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in pr*stitution.

Wright said (via @AkademiksTV on X):

"Now everybody knows in the backdrop, Shawn Carter, that you promised the South that the next time the Super Bowl came through, it would be a Louisiana affair. And then, when Diddy goes and gets into trouble and you need to convince the white people that you are still in control, you bring Kendrick Lamar."

Finally, calling the entire Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake fiasco "social engineering," she went on to compare the situation with the plot of Hunger Games. Here is how the conversation went:

Jaguar Wright: Social engineering. Creating an issue that didn't need to be an issue.
Interviewer: Hunger Games-like.
Jaguar Wright: Very Hunger Games. Life imitates art. Art imitates life. "

Jaguar Wright substantiated her social engineering argument by citing the demise of rappers Tupac Shakur and Biggie. Both were a part of the infamous East Coast–West Coast hip-hop rivalry in the 1990s and were murdered in drive-by shootings within six months of each other.

According to Jaguar Wright, the Drake vs Kendrick Lamar rivalry was no different from the Biggie vs. Tupac feud that ended with the death of both hip-hop titans.

"Imagine if the same fate that befell Biggie and Tupac happened to Drake and Kendrick. And as messy as Drake is right now, I can almost bet that there's somebody that wants to turn his faucet off. Because if you all think Diddy is a mess, Drake was being groomed to be next in line" she said.

British journalist Piers Morgan issues apology after airing Jaguar Wright's accusations on Jay-Z and Beyoncé

Wright recently appeared on Piers Morgan's show Uncensored (released on October 2, 2024) and made some serious claims about Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

“For four years I’ve been screaming not just Diddy, but Diddy and Jay-Z are monsters," she said before alleging that both Beyoncé and Jay-Z had hundreds of victims.

On Tuesday (October 8), Piers Morgan shared on his show that he was contacted by Jay-Z and Beyoncé's lawyers, claiming that the reports were baseless and had no evidence.

"“Well, Jaguar, unexpectedly, made several serious allegations about Jay-Z and Beyoncé during that interview. As I said in the moment, they were not present to respond or defend themselves, but now they have. We had lawyers contact us to say that those claims were totally false and have no basis in fact, and we’ve therefore complied with a legal request to cut them from the original interview," Morgan said to the audience.

He concluded the statement with a direct apology, saying:

“Editing interviews is not something we do lightly at a show called Uncensored, but like the proverbial cries of fire in a crowded theater, there are legal limits on us, too. And we apologize to Jay-Z and Beyoncé.”

The British journalist followed the apology statement up by censoring several parts of the episode in concern.
