On a recent episode of the Dumb Blonde podcast on Monday, August 5, rapper Machine Gun Kelly spoke to Bunnie XO about a difficult phase of his life. MGK's father was accused of killing his own dad when he was nine years old. In the candid interview, Bunnie asked Kelly about the accusations against his father, who was later acquitted.

According to Kelly, his dad would react strongly to certain factors, like loud noises. He added that this behavior of his father "made him hate him."

"The story that was told to me was they dropped his gun and his head essentially blew off," the rapper further mentioned. "All happened in the room with my dad at nine years old. So him and my grandmother were tried for the murder. They were both acquitted."

According to Machine Gun Kelly, these experiences with his father in his childhood contributed a lot to how he was when he grew up. The police reported finding the shotgun under the bed and then detained Kelly's grandmother and his dad, who was then nine years old.

Kelly further told Bunnie XO that his dad was diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder. He added that schizophrenia had been a constant factor in his family. The rapper also revealed in the interview that his mother wasn't really present in his childhood, and he was mostly raised by his father.

In the same interview, Machine Gun Kelly also talked about his mom. The rapper told Bunnie XO that he had previously referred to his mother at the beginning of his career. He added that while whatever he then mentioned about his mom wasn't untrue, it seemed only one side to the story.

"I would like to say for the record I love my mom dearly, and I misrepresented her a lot early in my career. And not misrepresented in the sense of not speaking truth. I was speaking my truth, but I didn’t give the masses the chance to understand her truth," he said.

Further in the conversation, Machine Gun Kelly revealed that he later learned that his father had prohibited his mum from contacting him. This wasn't, however, the first time he was talking about his family and dad specifically.

In the 2022 Hulu documentary Machine Gun Kelly's Life in Pink, Kelly gave an overview of the incidents of his childhood. In the documentary, he could be seen going through a personal scrapbook named MY BLOOD!. He further came across a 1966 news article from the Albuquerque Journal whose headline read:

"ARMY CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER IS FOUND SHOT TO DEATH AT SANDIA BASE APARTMENT."

In the movie, the rapper narrated about how he had seen his father struggle his entire life. He further spoke about how his childhood incidents had impacted his current life.

"Maybe I sabotage myself on purpose 'cause I just feel not worthy of being loved. It's instilled from childhood, and you learn from the people that raise you," Machine Gun Kelly said.

Casie, Kelly's daughter whom he had with former partner Emma Cannon, also gave her insights on the 34-year-old rapper. In the documentary film, Casie said she could see her dad getting depressed. She, however, also mentioned that it was "passed on through generations" to Kelly. Describing the wound as being "too deep," the rapper added:

"I kind of just transfer all my focus into drowning out my own pain with this noise."

Distractify reported that Kelly had often compared his father to Patrick Bateman, Christian Bale's character in American Psycho. The rapper believed that his dad had black-and-white thoughts and didn't have gray areas. In 2020, the rapper's father passed away. After the incident, he said he wanted to take a break from social media. On an Instagram story, then uploaded, Kelly wrote,

"It was 4:44 p.m. when I left the hospital last time I saw my dad. This was the last song we sang together."

He also posted a screenshot of Neil Young’s 1972 track Old Man. A year after his dad's death, Kelly rebonded with his mum, as reported by Distractify.

In separate news, Machine Gun Kelly and Bunnie XO's husband Jelly Roll released a track a week back titled Lonely Road. In an Instagram post on July 23, Kelly revealed that the duo had been working on the track for about two years. PEOPLE reported that the track was a "twist" of John Denver's classic track Take Me Home, Country Roads.
