Weslie Fowler, the late dancer and actor Stephen "tWitch" Boss' adopted daughter, is currently facing backlash after she took to social media to express her opinion about the actor’s demise. Fowler defended Boss’ wife, Allison Holker, after Holker opened up about Boss’ alleged drug addiction in a recent interview with People Magazine and received criticism for it.
In a video uploaded on Instagram by the Shade Room on January 11, Fowler said:
“These are all people that I've grown up with and to see them now at different for social media, it's like, I don't know, and I'm trying to be respectful, but I just think it's complicated..”
She continued:
“Because I've, I speak to Stephen's mom's, like my mom and her were speaking weekly at some point, and I don't know if it's still like that, like me and my mom haven't talked about it, but since Stephen died, I feel like I've seen his family more.”
After the video went viral, it garnered backlash as Fowler referred to Stephen by his first name while addressing Holker as “mom.” Many people took to the comment section of the clip to express their opinions.
One netizen remarked that it was extremely disrespectful for Weslie Fowler to call Boss by his first name, while another one noted that she addressed Holker as “mom.”
Other netizens echoed similar sentiments. One stated that no one calls their father by their first name, while another one said that it felt like he was her friend and not her father.
Meanwhile, some defended her and tried to justify her actions.
Weslie Fowler's video came after Allison Holder's interview about Stephen "tWitch" Boss
Just before the backlash, during the same Instagram video, Stephen "tWitch" Boss' adopted daughter, Weslie Fowler, whom Allison shares with her ex-fiancé, said:
“Then when he was alive, we would only see them once or twice a year, but you guys have to understand that it's because they live in another state, like, and things happen, like we literally live in another state, and it's not like we're neighbors…”
She concluded:
“It's not like we could just see them whenever we wanted, and now like my mom's constantly making the effort so that the kids are a part of, or not the kids are a part of the, wait, that was a bad mess of my words, so the kids are a part of their lives. And my mom's a part of their lives…”
The Instagram video followed Holker's candid discussion about her late husband's untimely death in an interview with People Magazine. She also spoke about learning that Stephen had been experiencing mental health issues and discussed his alleged drug problem in the same interview. According to a video posted by Hollywood Unlocked on Instagram on January 7, she stated:
“I had dealt with an ex that had addiction problems and then I realized Stephen had addiction problems and it's something that I kind of have been like what, where was I involved in this.."
Allison Holker further described how she learned more about Stephen tWitch Boss' hardships through his belongings. However, she did not specify the items she discovered in the closet or the types of substances her late husband allegedly used. Additionally, she discussed Boss' feelings during his struggles.
The interview took place two years after Holker's husband died by suicide on December 13, 2022.
