"Peachie is a superstar" — Wiz Khalifa sang praises about his mother in a new interview

Wiz Khalifa expanded on his relationship with his mother, Peachie, when he reappeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show. When Hudson asked him what he did for Mother's Day, the rapper said:

"Mother's Day every day for my mom. Peachie is a superstar. Everyone knows her as Peachie, if you meet her you will fall in love with her. Every day is her day."

In a 2020 interview with People Magazine, the rapper appreciated his mother for all she did now that he had a son of his own. He claimed he was passing on "pretty much everything" he learned from his mother to his son, Sebastian Taylor, aged 11.

Wiz Khalifa revealed the mother and son are closer than ever now, and see each other regularly. Peachie, a retired surgical nurse, also expressed her pride for her son, adding:

“Every time I think I’m going to burst from being proud, he makes me prouder. We crack up, we laugh, we watch movies. We’re close!”

In the interview with Jennifer Hudson, Wiz Khalifa also regaled the audience about the "west coast gangster" themed birthday party he threw for his son. He also promised new music, revealing the sequel to his cult-classic mixtape, Kush & Orange Juice 2.

When asked why he decided to make a sequel, Wiz Khalifa explained that he wanted to revisit that era to add some new flavor for his fans to have fun with and bring the vibe he had in his studio to life.

Wiz Khalifa lost his sister to lymphoma in 2017

Wiz Khalifa credited his mom and his older sister for always supporting him on his musical journey. But the rapper faced tragedy when he lost his sister, Lala, to lymphoma in 2017, when she was 32. On February 25, 2017, the rapper tweeted:

“The loss of my sibling has been the hardest thing I’ve had to deal with but [with] your prayers and well wishes my family will get through this.”

His sister identified as a transgender woman. She was a teenager when she started transitioning and changed her name to LaQueen Cinderella, nicknamed Lala. In a 2021 interview with Distractify, Peachie claimed that Lala's bravery inspired her to begin her career as an activist and author.

After Lala was diagnosed with lymphoma, she refused treatment for fear of being mistreated as a transgender woman. Her family had to contend with her decision, and Peachie chose to let her daughter go on her own terms, saying "People deserve to have dignity in death."

According to UpRoxx, Wiz Khalifa released See You Again with Charlie Puth as a tribute to his sister. In a 2022 interview on People’s Party with Talib Kweli, he said:

“A lot of people don’t know I have an older sibling. Well, I had an older sibling. My brother but she was transgender. At the time I was writing ‘See You Again’ is when she got sick. I knew I was pretty much going to be letting go…I think it was able to touch anybody who was going through a loss, or could be dealing with a situation. That is what made it so special to me."

The song was used at the end of Furious 7 to commemorate Paul Walker's death.
