Eminem recently named-dropped a few prominent singers of the industry in his most recent album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), which was released on Friday, July 12. It featured digs at celebrities including Diddy, Kanye West, Ja Rule, and others.
Along with dissing other rappers, he also rapped about Kanye West and sang-
“Brain is dead, space cadet/ Like when Ye forgets to take his meds.”
Now, once the videos of the album and the news of him dissing other rappers went viral on X, netizens took to the platform to react to the same.
“We might really get Eminem VS Kanye in the same year as the Kendrick and Drake beef”, wrote one X user.
“Hopefully this makes kanye drop vultures v2”, said another one.
“Kanye is definitely gonna reply”, commented another fan.
“Kanye will clap back hard”, said another Kanye fan.
Some fans supported Kanye, while others supported Eminem.
“I'm waiting on Ye fans to say he was speaking from a fan perspective”, commented another fan.
“While Kendrick is releasing Classics eminem is busy making shock value rap songs in 2024”, said another one.
“HE CANT DO NOTHING”, wrote another Eminem fan.
“Eminem is name dropping everyone”, said another fan of Slim Shady.
Eminem took a jab at fellow singers in his new album
In The Death Of Slim Shady, Eminem took jabs at Ja Rule, Kanye West, and Diddy, among others. He mocked Diddy on the track Antichrist referencing a recent CNN video of Diddy hitting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and the ongoing controversy about Diddy's s*xuality.
Addressing the same, he sang-
“Next idiot ask me is gettin’ his a*s beat worse than Diddy did [pause]/ But on the real, though/ She prolly ran out the room with his f*ckin’ dildo/ He try to field goal punt her, she said to chill/ Now put it back in my a*s and get the steel toe.”
He also named Lizzo when he brought her up in his attack against overweight people on Road Rage. He sang-
“Ain’t never really truly over ’til Lizzo sings/ We should coddle fat people, yeah, here’s a concept, let’s celebrate onset/ Diabetes and instead of us dieting we can just have a pie-eating contest.”
Eminem also dissed Ja Rule on Guilty Conscience 2 where he rapped-
"When I say, ‘F*ck midgets,’ I mean Ja Rule."
Furthermore, the Slim Shady rapper reportedly also mentioned the feud between Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian. Referring the same, he rapped-
“Look at what you made me do, maybe you the one they should blame, they Say they wish that I wasn't so angry… / Don't wanna see me goin' off the deep end like Ye, ayy…/ Rather see me do like Kim Kardashian, they say… / And find a way to get rid of all of this rage, ayy ….”
Swift and Kim K feud in brief
For the unphased, Kardashian and Swift feud jumpstarted in 2016 following the release of West’s Famous. After that, Kardashian claimed that Swift was aware of West's plans to release the song, in which he made some inappropriate comments about him and Swift’s relationship.
Kim K further leaked an edited phone conversation between West and Swift discussing the song before its release. Since then, it's been almost a decade, they are going to and fro.
On the other hand, Slim Shady also discussed in the first song Renaissance, how criticism of previous rap icons couldn't bring any of them down. He also supported other legendary lyricists, like Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar, in the song.
