Ab-Soul tweeted about his recent studio album on X on December 17, which has since gone viral. In his tweet, the Empathy rapper called his latest release "a phenomenal body of work" and urged listeners to stop "pretending to overlook him."

The tweet has since received over 680K views, 21K likes, and 3K reshares, with netizens reacting both in favor of and against the tweet. One netizen wrote:

"We must learn from the mistakes of meek mill... just keep rapping brother. The record gon reflect"
"Bro what you on here crying for? Make the music you love and let the people who enjoy it enjoy it. Internet got you niggas believing in “the culture” and they gone send you off every single time." - commented an X user.
"Doesn't matter how good it is if nobody wants to listen to it" - added a second one.
"Hang it up. Your work ethic after Control System went downhill and now you’re seeing the consequences of it. Kendrick only cares about himself. You’re done." - wrote a third one.

Meanwhile, other netizens supported Ab-Soul, calling his latest album one of the top 5 this year.

"Soul burger is one of the best albums in 2024 top 5 IMO" - replied a fourth X user.
"I gave it some spins but yes it’s definitely underrated. It’s underrated to the point where it doesn’t benefit him (financially) to release another album. If you enjoy an artist support them by purchasing their product." - commented a fifth one.
"It’s my favorite album of yours and the one I’ve been waiting for you to drop since I heard about you nigga but ya don’t get stuck trying to recreate what you did" - wrote a sixth user.

Released on November 8, 2024, Soul Burger is Ab-Soul's sixth studio album.

Ab-Soul's tweet about his latest album comes shortly after the Pineal Gland rapper dropped the music video for one of its tracks - California Dream. The track features Vince Staples and Kamm Carson.

In the music video, Ab-Soul, Carson, and Staples are outside one of LA's most renowned burger joints, Love Hour. All three rappers appear in Love Hour's parking lot and rap their verses.

The food joint has become a popular spot in LA's Koreatown, with burgers and fries being a constantly repeated order at its food service window.

The track closes with an acapella verse by Kamm Carson, which focuses on their shared upbringing in southern LA.

"Age thirteen, used to think murder was make-believe / Role models Crippin’ like DoeBurger and Killa Dee / Play football or you bangin’, you signed to the streets."

It also hints at Ab-Soul's inspiration behind the new album. Besides Vince and Kamm, the other artists who have worked with Ab-Soul in Soul Burger include Ty Dolla Sign - for Go Pro, JID - for Crazier, Lupe Fiasco and Pune - for Peach, Blxst - for The Sky is Limitless, Doechii - for I, Myself, and Me, and Thirsty P and JasonMartin - for All That.

On December 12th, Ab-Soul joined Kendrick Lamar on the stage of TDE's annual Christmas Concert & Toy Drive, hosted in Watts, California. K-Dot brought the Two Matches rapper out during his rendition of Squabble Up - a chart-topping track from his surprise album, GNX.
